You can see it in several episodes post repair, the biggest giveaway to spotting it being the tail markings are the same but the nose contours are changed and the larger 2 has been added to the sides along with a bit of repainting.

I'd never noticed before that in the closing credits shot of FAB1 you can see the studio wall complete with pipes...

Not on Blu-ray, but on my upscaled DVD I spotted a pod to the right hand side of TB2's hanger bay before the pods enter the hanger, in the episode "Trapped in the Sky"

You don't need to upscale an episode to see that - it's bloody huge.

Upscaling does not add more detail

Default Stingray

In noticed in the Stingray episode Deep Heat, that a railing can be seen when the background scenery collapses.

Yes I have spotted a few things. I stuck on Thunderbirds blu-ray (disk 6) because I fancied watching Allis Mr, Hackenbaker and Atlantic Inferno and I noticed on Allis Mr. Hackenbaker, the scene with Alan and Virgil try to scare Skythrust with Thunderbird 2, that other clips have been used to show Thunderbird 2 flying.

I then noticed this same sort of thing on Atlantic Inferno, when Thunderbird one is approching the Seascape Drilling Rig on their second rescue. In fact notice that, that footage is from Thunderbird 1 extending is wings on approach to the landing platform on Ocean Pioneer II.

I wonder why this is.........?

Why film something that's already been filmed? It's the same reason they don't film the launch sequence afresh for each episode. They only had a limited amount of time to film each episode.

True, but what I mean is the original scene. To prove my theory is correct watch those scenes first on any of the dvd releases and then those scenes on blu-ray.
Post back.

DT19 I don't quite get what you are saying. Are you saying that the Blue Ray edition has used different shots to the ones used in the DVDs/ original eps?

Sorry, I didn't realise that's what you meant. Yes, it's been mentioned elsewhere that Granada have taken it upon themselves to substitute various shots (in addition to adding inappropriate sound effects and chopping the top and bottom off the picture). Can't imagine why I'm not rushing out to buy this set.

You've got to be joking. I hadn't picked this up in the discussion on the other thread. Why would you bother, that's just stupid. Perhaps they needed to rob peter to make paul have any hope of fitting. Forget that!!

Agreed.

It's just that in forty years of watching the programme I'd never noticed it before.

Should've gone to Specsavers

I've not watched Alias yet, so hadn't spotted that.

It happens in Atlantic Inferno, The Cham-Cham, The Duchess Assignment and one other episode. The worst example is in certain episodes, they fuck up Thunderbird One's launch by repeating two shots in quick succession - so Thunderbird One flies past the camera twice.

It's so sloppy it makes me really angry. Technicolor should not be let loose on jobs like this because they don't appear to care.

I still maintain the rest of the set is worth it though for the detail and that missing the top and bottom isn't noticeable...

Just watched Hackenbacker and in this instance, the replaced shots actually f*ck up the narrative.

It's utterly amateur.

I take it that these new edits/replced shots are only on the BluRay version, and not the existing box-set.... I hope! I agree though, why 'fix' something that isn't broken?
That's one of the many things that I admire about the work done by the RT team who restore the Dr Who DVD's... if they make any 'improvements', they are options along with the cleaned-up and repaired original - the viewer has the choice!

what about the hand that holds the bridge, in Brink of Disaster! before it looks like that the model would have collapsed anyway, as the strings holding it look as if there broken
