Default 1/72 Mk II Viper (TNS)

Hi guys - been concentrating on a few things lately and here's one of them! It's the Mk II Viper from the new Battlestar Galactica in 1/72 scale made by Black Sun. I had quite a few issues with the kit (incomplete instructions being a major bugbear), with with some helpful pointers I managed to finish it.

Let me know what you think:

Nice, can you get the original in 1/72? Didn't think I'd like new BG but I must admit to being rather impressed.

As far as I know, you can only get it in 1/48, which is a shame, as I'd like to get one in the same scale to do a nice display.

The Mk II is a direct homage to the original Viper and I like it better than the funked-up Mk VII (although once that's released in 1/72 I'll have to get one for completeness).

There are two 1/72 Mk II kits available, this one by Black Sun (available through Starship Modeler) and one by Sci-High (available through Federation Models). The Sci-High one has a higher parts count and is apparently more accurate, although both do come with landing gear (I prefer in-flight, but that's just me) and extensive decal sheets (I didn't use half the cockpit ones - too fiddly to be honest). Also JBot does sets of 1/72 Viper markings with different colour stripes and different Battlestar names so you're not just stuck with Galactica.

I have to say of all the recent SF, the new BSG has me hooked - especially the battle scenes with the Mk IIs in action (which I had to watch for reference). Plus there is a wealth of reference material on the Web, which makes life a little bit easier when painting ...
