Default 'For all Mankind'

Last night on the Turner channel they aired 'For all Mankind'.
Breathtaking, crystal clear film footage taken by the various Apollo missions and narrated by the astronauts. Some of it looked so sharp it looked like it was filmed today. Plenty of moon rover footage too. If this is available on DVD I highly recommend it.

Yup, its on DVD. I checked Amazon and Half.com

Product Description
In July 1969, the space race ended when Apollo 11 fulfilled President Kennedy’s challenge of: landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth. No one who witnessed the lunar landing will ever forget it. Al Reinert’s documentary, For All Mankind, is the story of the twenty-four men who traveled to the Moon, told in their words, in their voices, using the images of their experiences. Forty years later, it remains the most radical, visually dazzling work of cinema yet made about this earth-shaking event

Stunning soundtrack by Brian Eno too available on CD under the album name "Apollo" and much used on TV commercials. A very good documentary matched (arguably surpassed) only by the recent "In The Shadow Of The Moon" which gives you a similar opportunity just to look at the images and feel the moment.

The CD has apparently be reissued this year unsurprisingly. There are lots on eBay.

Caught this last night too, along with "The Right Stuff". Both are great

I love the slow-mo Saturn V launch...volume turned up with sub-woofers at maximum. You can sort of 'feel' the moment in some small way...
