Ummm... it looks cool up to a point, but then looks video-gamey. (The music in the trailer wasn't all that great, either, but I've never liked contemporary songs in period pieces, whether they're set in the past or in the future.) Oh, it definitley has shades of the Mad Max trilogy, too, which may or may not be a good thing.
But I think Bale was right to ask for a script that would work without sfx; that gives me hope that this will actually be a good story.
When it comes out on dvd, I'll check it out. (I never saw Terminator 3, nor do I plan to. Same with Sarah Conner Chronicles. So this is a big step for me.)

A few of us here have expressed frustration that CGI eye-candy is all too often used to gloss over a script's shortcomings - so, yeah, that is good news. Bale, on a good day, can out-act practically anyone he's on screen with. The involvement of Jonathan Nolan is also encouraging. I must admit I kinda tuned out after 'T2', but I may well check this one out when it comes to DVD.

The giant 'harvester' robot in the trailer makes me cringe. But then I remind myself--over and over--that the Martian machines in War of the Worlds (one of my all-time favourite novels) did something similar. I don't mind the concept, it's the execution. But it worked in WotW, even in the 2005 American update. So maybe it'll work here in Terminator Salvation.
But man, that giant robot makes me cringe...
