Actually Mike, many of them were built and rebuilt by a team of modelmakers working out of Shepperton Studios. Commercial models and components were obviously used but a great deal was scratchbuilt too. Credit where credit is due and all that like the 'forgotten' model team at Bray that built a considerable proportion of the models for 1999 rather than the 'glam' stuff.

There were loads of people involved throughout all the series. There was always a modelshop building stuff at Shepperton prior to shooting, presumably filling the gaps that the other contractors couldn't. A great number of my work colleagues have passed through at various times. They were building characters as well as set pieces. It's not unusual for a number of companies wanting to be associated with a hit but there were many cogs in the machine.

I have got nothing against CGI personally,it's only the overmisuse of the Capture Motion
technology in CGI is what I got against.
