I always wondered if this was Gerry's! I know he drove a royce around this time-cause Lew had one-status and all that! Indeed during the making of Space, he lent his too the Landaus (part of the deal to get them to sign on)

I don't know what happened to the full size car - which is driven quite wildly during the episode, and I'm not sure if I have any pictures of the model, but there is a page devoted to the crash in Alan Shubrook's book 'Century 21 FX'. On page 92 he describes building the model, and that he went to some trouble to build the front end so that it crumpled realistically, There are some more pictures on page 134. If you don't have the book, I would certainly recommend it- it's worth evry penny !

Lew certainly had a Rolls like this - I think the registration was LG 1. Gerry's was a Silver Shadow though, which does feature - as General Henderson's car - in a few episodes of UFO, including Conflict.

There's a great story about Lew and his Rolls. When he bought it, in-car telephones were still pretty unusual, and so he thought he'd have one fitted, particularly as he'd heard that his brother Lord Delfont also had one on order. As soon as he got the car he rang Delfont, who he knew was in his own car, only to be told, 'Sorry Lew, can I call you back ? I'm on my other phone' !

Dinky Toys had a RR Phantom V available at the time. Could be interesting for a nice diorama. Maybe the police bikes can also be found, or something close to them. Some trees, a UFO and action!

Multimillionaires, no doubt, and it still came down to which one had the best conker! You can take the boys out of the schoolyard, but you can't take the schoolyard out of the boys...

It would make a nice diorama. The crash scene begs it.

Check out the last picture on page 2 of this thread ...

http://www.eagletransporter.com/foru...ad.php?t=10149

Is that it up on the model-store shelf? In the context of the surrounding models, it certainly seems possible ...

Not to be too picky :-) but that's a Phantom VI.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolls-Royce_Phantom_VI
According to that page only 374 were produced, so finding that exact car actually shouldn't be too hard in this day and age.
Good luck! :-)

It was that pic on another thread that lead to this thread being created ! We could be entering a self perpetuating time loop here...

Yep, I had one of those - and the good thing about the one I had was that the base plate was screwed on rather than riveted, so it broke up quite spectacularly when it was driven off the top of a flight of stairs !

Dinky also did a Silver Shadow in blue, which is currently on my UFO display shelf.

Yes, you're right. It's a 'G' registration so that would make it a very early one, almost brand new, from late '68 or early '69 (the sequence was filmed around April '69).
