Don't forget the film "Pitch Black" The vessel in that was made by them and indeed called the "Hunter-Gratzner" IIRC, thought it was a great design myself.

Tell me about it,it's like that all over Hollywood these days.

At least they kept the style of the lettering,the design and the appearance
of the Mobiles right,needs just a tiny smitch more work on them but overall,
not too shabby.

At least they're not using Eric Chu's concept designs for it,that's one
great blessing.

I must stress these are NOT from the new Movie, they are renders by R Dominguez that I came across which were posted at least two years ago. They were posted here as an example of what the films producers/Director could use.It's only my opinion but i think they should be forwarded to the film makers, i have tried to track down R Dominguez but to no avail as yet.

Look I'm all for changing the designs and concepts of ideas for the new
updated versions of classic tv shows and movies that we grew up with.
But the problem is the artists,the producers and the production groups
and teams who work in Hollywood goes completely overboard on their
production designs for these updated remakes.

Thunderbirds was a good example of the original concepts being reworked- some turned out better than others. One problem is new people creating these revised designs often miss what elements which worked out best- they take some obvious characteristics and streamline or distort them to fill a big screen (like TB2).
Anderson craft has a certain feel and styling which is easy to recognize but hard to grasp. They might seem a little retro and fussy in today's world, but I still prefer them over the reimagined ones (SPV vs Rhino)...

The LOST IN SPACE 1998 movie remake by director Stephen Hopkins made the same horrible mistake with a insane new JUPITER 2 design.

From what I have been reading and seeing here, looks like there are no definite designs for most of our beloved vehicles yet?

Ooooh, this is interesting.

It appears to be show the interceptor from the new film. The more one studies it, the more faithful it looks. Skis, engine arrangement, top fin and a front missile or possibly a weapons pod. Nice.

(I knicked the picture from the Fanderson site - mum's the word!).

Seems to bristle with weapons. We toyed with the idea of different weapon systems being used on the Interceptors in UFO:1999. If you watch the second episode, you see them using what may well be gunports on the front of the main body...they were there all the time, but never used on UFO. But you could mount differng weapon systems on the ship buy replacing the missile pod. Oh, but for a season 2, and 3....

It would seem logical to have a swappable pod up front- the original Interceptors were just a manned first stage launch vehicle the way they were used.

I had often wondered why the interceptors only had one missile - it reminded me of a bumblebee - once it had used its sting that was it! However looking at the speeds the UFO's travel at it is likely they would only have one chance - they would soon be out of range.

Well, I have an original UFO concept Idea, why not have all of the SHADO machines transform into gaint robots?
I would rename the movie to 'Captain UFO' they whole thing would be based on the 'Power Rangers' format & would centre on 5 kids who fight aliens, who in this remake, are 3ft tall with over sized helmets for comedy effect.
Their guns would fire ping pong balls also I'd have a cute robot - SHADO D2.
Because it's the future, all the SHADO team must have silver faces in homage to 'Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea' in fact just use stock footage from Irwin Allen series;
Seaview = Sky Diver
Flying Sub = Sky One
Lost in Space Robot = S.I.D.
Time Tunnel = SHADO HQ
Lunar Module = Spindrift
Jupiter 2 = U.F.O.
Chariot = Mobile
Infact, why even shoot new footage? When you could just splice together episodes of Irwin Allen shows & then re-dub them? because as long it's colourful & noisy & in 3D, your laughing all the way to the bank.
Foot Note - all the toys from the film should be available in lime green only!

While we're on the movie theme,
Do any of youze guyz remember a sci-fi movie where Earth scientists had developed a flying saucer, but it could "only" be piloted by buxom women due to the male brain pattern being disrupted by the gyro. Probably released between 1970 - 74.
I was about 10 years old, and my parents "caught" me watching this movie WAY too late at night, sent me to bed, then caught me AGAIN rewatching it 15 minutes later!
I never did finish the movie, and it's been calling to me for over 35 years!!
HELP!!

Swine flu. This is a Gerry Anderson forum. Never ever suggest shooting new footage again.
