I still don't get 'Destruction' why would the Aliens want to release a chemical gas that would kill off the very species they are using for spare parts/zombies.

I'm the first to admit I could be missing something. I watched the first box set through Xmas 08 but I ger a little bogged down with volume 2. I also find that the repeated use of stock footage begins to grate.

We don't know for certain but there could be two factions; one believes that it's acceptable to 'harvest' lower species for spare parts, the other believes that lower species should be exterminated in case they become a threat.
We do know from 'A Question of Priorities' that there are dissidents amongst the Aliens

Default My UFO Hell

Thanks MkIXHawk,'Question of Priorities' on DVD tonight.

I have a Love/Hate relationship with UFO. When I was a kid it got messed up all over the schedules. Having loved the early episodes I vividly remember seeing a randomly broadcast episode on a Sunday lunchtime aged about 11 'The Sound of Silence' with the mutilated dog, as a child I found the episode very upseting and avoided UFO thereafter. I had been expecting to see something about Moonbases and Mobiles.

I still dodge the episode nowadays as I can't stand cruelty to animals.

It swung from Captain Scarlet to Hammer Horror via The Prisoner.

Just not appropriate for kids at all but marketed as such.

Always thought it was a show with charm but a personality crisis and still do?

Bishop did a brilliant thread as a complete newcomer to UFO. I should re read that and my Complete Gerry Anderson Episode guide.

BTW, nothing new on the Movie Official site for weeks now and no other apparent titbits of info on progress.

Stock footage is part and parcel of every (but not exclusive to) Anderson show. As a narrative tool it serves its purpose, in the same way 'he, she, I said' becomes invisible when read and taken for granted in a novel.
You'll be hard pressed to find a genre show that doesn't use stock footage.

As a big fan of the interceptor, I just wish there were a few more launch sequences having gone to the trouble of building the set and models.

In fact come to think of it, it would be really lovely to have all the s1999 model SFX on one dvd.
