One major issue is that our weather here in Northern Nevada prevents me from doing any airbrushing for about 6 months out of the year because it is too cold for the paint to spray correctly.
Life must be really tough for you if you can't afford to heat a room warm enough to use an airbrush.

Maybe selling some of the kits you haven't completed on the forum could help with the bills?

You'd be surprised how much trouble it is to heat a room here to proper painting temperature. The problem isn't affording the heat, but tha lack of good wall insulation to keep it warm. The elevation here is about 5,000 feet (1,500m) above sea level, and we are on the cold side of the Sierra Nevada mountains.

I've got two builds on the go , the Discovery from Stargazer which is so nicely cast and done its almost like a plastic kit to build and the last of my Randy Cooper kits from last year (when the pound was worth something) , the Corellian Corvette, which is a total pain. I've almost scratchbuilt half of it again as I felt it could be a far more interesting design. I might go for a total scratchbuild of my own later on this year, seeing as I am more confident with build materials and basic construction.

I have three builds going at present, two Tiger Is and a Pz III. Still have to get the paint off the PE 23" cages.

Look up "Yahoo R2 Builders Club" and become a member. Tons of talent on there, but everyone is old school and uses the Yahoo system instead of a nice board like this.

It's the official R2 Builders forum.

I will be building my Swift soon - soon after someone posts his build here so I can learn how to do it, that is. Who's getting the ball rolling, then? I'm right behind you

I'll build mine, right after I finish my Small Art Works 44" Eagle which is about 75% done.

I'm kit-bashing a U.S.S Yeager for review purposes (Voyager and Marquis raider mix).
I'm also building a 2m Nebulon Starship (SWESB) and kitbashing a U.S.S.Gage with other Starships for a 'Happy Medium Press' book.

For years, I've been thinking of doing the same thing, but keep deciding that it would be easier to scratch build an accurate version. Given how many works in 'progress' I have going, the Phoenix project never even takes off. (By the way, I'm sure I speak for many modelers here: does 'progress' accurately describe half-built projects that have had little to no actual work accomplished for months? Or in my case, years? )

You mean there's some other way of doing this stuff?

Currently in progess is Alex Dumas' Swift kit, which is truly awesome. And a 1/1000 refit USS Enterprise from Polar Lights.
