Default Great Ekranoplan Pictures

This site has great pictures of a surviving and heavily weathered Ekranoplan. Now did Derek Meddings design this in his spare time?

Fantastic stuff - that's a LUN Ekranoplan - fits in to the Hovercraft Museum remit nicely. Now if only we could get hold of this beast !

Not flying exactly, more like a hovercraft but extremely fast. They moved mainly over water but also over flat land.

This site has pictures and descriptions of different Ekranoplans:

Channel 4 did a very good documentary on the Ekranoplan(s) a few years ago.

The channel 4 documentary was very interesting - It showed one in throes of construction - the largest ever built. Sadly due to the collapse of communism it was never completed.

The Caspian Sea Monster. Fascinating stuff and looks like it should have been in a TB episode. Sadly appears to be an engineering dead end. Too unstable in bad weather.

I've saved quite a few of those shots if only as excellent examples of real world weathering.
