Default UFO miniatures in Doctor Who

Been watching the extras on "Frontier In Space" and there's Mat Irvine saying how the Beeb bought up a lot of the Anderson models when their shop shut, on the proviso that they were changed somewhat.
There's lots of shots to accompany the fact (sorry, can't do screen captures - just take a photo of me telly) and they sure are recognisable and in a lot of cases just have something bunged on the front or the rear.
A lot don't even seem to have been repainted.
The question is:
Has this ever been discussed before?
And has anyone researched just which model from which Anderson episdode was used - and how they were altered?

The UFO and Joe 90 miniatures showed up in Colony in Space and Frontier in Space in particular. The F116 from Joe 90/Talkdown was in Colony in Space (possibly with a bit of a Secret Service/Mayday Mayday jet attached), the Arctic Adventure sub was in Frontier in Space (repainted with wings) along with Craig Collins' ship from UFO/The Man Who Came Back (unaltered).

Scarlet's jetpack was used as a full-scale power unit for a miner's hand-drill in Colony in Space and several other UFO/Joe 90 models were cannibalised to make new designs in Frontier in Space, including the Draconian ship. Bits of the missile from Conflict and bits of the SHADO Lunar Module are in there somewhere too. There is a thread elsewhere on ETF here, I know there was one on Fanderson's forum too. These grabs are a bit poor - below is stuff from The Man Who Came Back and Arctic Adventure. They'd be easier to spot if they were better lit!
