Default BBC Sherlock/UFO link

There is a well recieved new production by the BBC called 'Sherlock'.

The star is an actor called Benedict Cumberbatch.

Whos real life mum is Wanda Ventham/Colonel Lake.

OK, thanks for that. Didn't know that. I've watched it and it's actually not bad. It works quite well despite being set in the modern world.

Yes I've been meaning to give it a watch, but keep missing it. That said, I'm not so sure they should be tinkering with a classic, is nothing safe from a 'remake'. For me there will only ever be one Sherlock Holmes...... Basil Rathbone, just love those old films, more spooky for being in b&w.

Blue Moon. It is quite good (girl 1) is smitten. Try to imagine the latest Dr Who crossed with your Basil Rathbone films.

Some reviews are saying 'Its worth the license fee alone'. Which is a little strong but it well characterised and the plot whips along well.

All in all a good Sunday night family drama.

Right Alfalfa, you've twisted my arm, I'll definatly watch it, I saw a clip for this week and it seemed very good, with an element of humour as well which is always welcome.

Didn't the Basil Rathbone films tinker with a classic? They were updated for their time for him to be able to fight the Nazi's.

Default Sherlock

I watched this new series and have been quite impressed, it was weird when i saw the main character, i immediately thought "hmm bbc actor, weird aura, similarity between sherlocks and Dr Whos problem solving and behaviour, definite future Dr Who" and was gonna put a random bet on him being the next Dr Who, then that weekend i read in a paper that he had been approached abotu the Dr Who Role.

I was surprised how well the 21st century "modern day" setting idea worked

Wouldn't disagree there, he definately has what I would say is the Dr Who 'look', plus if he's been approached does that imply Matt Smith hasn't met Beeb expectations :

Does anyone else find the title and incidental music a little Randall and Hopkirk-esque?

As for Sherlock itself Love it

Yes indeed, have a look at this article from the Daily Mail. It seems that he didn’t like the idea of being part of such a big franchise and “ … I didn’t really like the whole package - being on school lunch boxes”.

No, it would appear Matt Smith is using Dr. Who as a “stepping stone” to Hollywood, using the “fame” that has been generated by his appearance in the series as the way of getting there!!

More news!

It looks like there will be a second series!! Yaaayyy!!!

Speaking of Matt Smith and Sherlock Holmes, I found this article – Benedict Cumberbatch was already cast as Holmes and Matt Smith auditioned for the part of Watson, but didn’t get it as he was deemed to be “too barmy”!!
