Default other old shows - Genesis II / Earth II

There were a couple of other shows that I'd like to find. Does anyone remember "Genesis II?" I think I saw it a half-dozen times on late night TV in the 70s and early 80s. It starred Alex Cord as "Dylan Hunt" and was the pilot for a proposed series from Gene Roddenberry. It didn't sell -- but like Star Trek, a second pilot was ordered -- called "Planet Earth" -- this time with John Saxon as the main character. Still didn't sell, though I think perhaps one episode was produced for some reason. I think there was some effort to pass off "Andromeda" as a further extension of the format, though "Andromeda" was more like Star Trek than it was like "Genesis II." I'd love to find copies of either of these pilots or the episode, but they seem to have disappeared.

Then there was a show called Earth II. Not the one from the 1990s, but from the early 70s. I think it starred Gary Lockwood and was about life on a space station. There was an extra-vehicular rocket craft that resembled a donut around the astronaut's waist. And that's about all I remember.

Anyone have a copy of any of these? I haven't seen Earth II since it was on, and it's probably been 20 years since I caught Genesis II or Planet Earth.

Genesis II and Planet Earth turn up on British television every few years, usually as afternoon or early evening films on the minority channels. Watchable but never thought worth taping.

My memory of Earth II was that it was a single made for tv movie of the week.
The miniatures and full sets were well done. The score was by Lalo Schiffrin
and was a beautiful score. My favorite musical cue was when
the shuttle was docking with Earth II. A long sequence nodding to 2001.

Love this movie and wish it were available.

Saw them both when I was in 6th grade. Earth II was a little ponderous at times, but had nice (for its time & for my age) sfx. Genesis II was interesting; I wonder how well it's held up, though.

I have Earth II on VHS - taped it when it aired on Turner Classic Movies a few years ago. I haven't seen it air again since then. And no annoying commercial breaks.

Earth 2 I believe made use of some of the hardware designed for the MGM movie "Marooned" as the space suits and helmets worn by the astronauts looked close. The Apollo CSM mockup seen in the opening might have been from it as well.

Closest thing in recent memory that compares with the vintage Earth 2 movie is the Sky TV show "Space Island One" that lasted two seasons. It involved sort of an ISS on steroids with a rotating habitat ring attached to an ISS style fixed platform with large solar arrays. The stories in that show could be boring, but the set design and the effects work looked very good IMHO. Plus I liked watching it since my favorite Y-Wing pilot Angus MacInnes was in it as a crusty old astronaut.
