EAGLEMAGNET

As a novice and someone who is keen to convert a 23" Transporter to a VIP Eagle, I would like to know what method and equipment you used to get what looks like such a professional finish?

Thanks.

Ben.

I have just listed a stage by stage build up of the VIP Eagle from start to finish incuding the paint colours.. and the BL~#!Y Browser timed out.. and it all went missing... ARGHH .. i hate Computers !!!

Ok......

I used a mix of Humbrol Enamel paints to get the correct colour

Humbrol Gloss Orange No 18
Humbrol Burnt Matt Orange No 82
Humbrol Matt White No 34
(mix and experiment using google images of the pod for ref)
Some Humbrol thinners... and a cheap Revell Airbrush and Gas canister.

The bells were removed,Airbrushed with Humbrol Met No11 and allowed to dry for 2 hours , i then applied some turtlewax car polish and allowed this to dry I then buffed and polished them like a mad man.. but i am VERY happy with the result, Highly recommended experiment.

Hope this helps

Its such a great collection, made even greater if the IR winch pod turns out ok and one can make the pallet pod from it. All you'd then need is a spine booster and you'd have the lot. Delicious

Default VIP'd

Ah there you are EAGLEMAGNET ,

Been looking for your thread on the VIP for days now , just got another 23"er to convert, so needed some good advise on colour etc, put up a thread hoping someone would post to it, but nothing came of it, I thought maybe Chris (DX) would have the definitive colour..but nothing yet.

Trying to do it the simplest way possible, masking the decals etc, spray from a car-can if possible , all my stuff is sprayed with it..so here goes nothing.

Cheers again..Ian "eagle44"

The collections grown by 4 PE 12" eagles and a Comet Minatures Mini Metal eagle and a PE UFO interceptor/saucer since the pics were taken and IR have another 23" Eagle and a 19"Hawk on the way, i am RUNNING OUT OF SPACE AND CASH !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I may get all my eagles together for a family photo this christmas and post it on the forum.

AS FOR THE COLOUR.... I swear it is BL ORANGE... it looks like the same vile Orange the used to paint Austin Princess and Allegros... if you mix some humbrol paints with that in mind and purchase a cheap Revell airbrush kit, you will never look back.

My wife said NO NO NO.... but i reminded her that she knew i was a self confessed Sci-Fi Nurd from the day she met me... so i guess for better or worse i have got away with it.
I Don't quite know how to prepare her for the 44"...lots of Flowers i guess.. possibly a Flower Shop full!!
