Smile Holiday....

It did come together rather well didn't it? This is my happy face.

I'm officially on two days holiday but I am packing my laptop and will write up my diary to post. It was pretty amazing wasn't it?

It might be worth booking one of the rooms to use for a forum members meeting, I'll look into it and ask Katie if this is possible.

Back to packing the car for me.

Bernie.

Hi Gent's,

Wowwwww what an experience you all had? Firstly to be able to talk with all those special guest stars who made our shows so great and timeless? Then to be able to meet so many from our forum i would loveee that? The model room would have been a treat.

Question for ya all:

What can you tell me about Tin Tin that was on display? I know an original puppet of her survived it was from the TB6 movie as i saw her in 1985? But i remember her having more olive colored eye's?

Well done Chris and other forum memebers for putting all the effort in to the display - Mike Delamar's Gray and Houseman truck was a particular favourite of mine. Shame that some of the contributors and other ETF regulars couldn't be there.

I'm not sure, but this may be a reproduction puppet with an original head that was sold at the John Read and Mary Turner auction in 1995. I think the TB6 Tin-Tin is now in Australia.

That sounds about right on the Tin-Tin restoration head and body AT! Same goes for the THUNDERBIRD 6 full puppet. I think Brains and certainly Lady P all ended up there too. Weren't there guys or people to ask about this stuff in the room itself?

As for the last conventions, I didn't go to the latest. It was always difficult to tell what was original with such high standards of reproductions. It would be helpful to have labels of some sort.

Tin-Tin and Brains from TB6 are in Aussie, they can be seen on You-Tube in a recent Gerry exhibition.

Parker and Lady P also survive from the film, along with the Alan which was in the Phil Rae collection.

We were going to do labels, but with the content changing up to the last minute, and even during the convention, we simply ran out of time and facilities to do it.

With better planning and a more definitive list of models attending supplied in advance, I am sure future conventions will be able to label everything properly.

However we were nearly always on hand in the room to advise and explain what was what - which I did many times, including to Gerry himself who thought my Eagle was original !

I have just added a photo to the 'Puppets' thread of the puppet you are talking about.
Cheers

Tin Tin head at the Mary T auction didnt have any eyes, I seem to remember talking to the owner a few years ago and he had had the head restored and body added. Im not sure who did this. I have some very good shots, will dig them out and post on this site.

I beleive it was Dave Finchett who did the restoration on the head and did the body too.

Agreed Mike. Thats why I use off board flash(s) to give shadows and depth. However, direct low powered flash is good for capturing close up detail.
