Default Warp Eagle kit??

Hi,

I just won this bid on Ebay, I am guessing that this is a Warp kit

I woke up at 4.45 am to verify, only to find my rival bidder tried

to out bid me , but guess I took him out within a few

seconds . I sure hope that this is the Warp kit.

Unfortunatly its not the Warp kit It is however a sligtly rare resin version
copied off the ERTL Eagle. Some good info on it can be found in this thread
http://www.eagletransporter.com/foru...opic.php?t=121

Heres a Warp Eagle. And its at a really nice price too. Though shipping to
Cali would probly suck

I was expecting the warp kit I saw on Comet's site

this is what threw me off

http://www.space1999.net/~catacombs/...mmegarage.html

the box art. I hope this kit turns out good

thanks Shrugger

Didn't you recently bidded on a Eagle kit on Evil bay

not the PE kit

I see what you mean. Looks like they stuck the wrong box art in the article That kit is better than the ERTL but not as good as the Warp.

shruggr be me over at the evil-B. I've made quite a few bids in the last
couple weeks. Won some, lost some. I also have this odd habit of bidding
on items with "Reserve not met" because I have an irrational fear and
loathing of "Reserve" auctions! Stupidest thing they've created
I've not been able to win soo many because of "Reserve not met" that I'll
jump in and move things along, even if I've no intention of buying

I'd have thought the Airfix plans shown in the auction was a bit of a giveaway. Then again, anything could be in a garage kit.

I picked that kit from King Kits "bargin basement" about a year ago [did'nt pay anything like that eBay price - lucked out for once?] and was always curious if it was the Warp kit or not? It includes a nicely cast white metal spine. I guessed at the time it was a ripped from the AMT kit.

Its still sits in my stash unbuilt, I would love to hear any view on as a kit and it origins, if it is not the Warp kit.

Fine Art Castings used to do a lot of Comet's white metal casting. The resin bits could be by any of Comet's regular contributors. It was produced at a time when the Airfix kit was no longer available and indeed quite rare but the cost of the kit (retail) was still more than the Airfix one cost on the collectors market. Apart from modified cage work, it's a straight recasting of the Airfix kit with more clean up to do. As mentioned above, there's a thread about this kit already going.

I've got one too, still unbuilt. I bought it from Comet at a time when I was pining for the Airfix Eagle kit I'd had as a kid. Shortly afterwards, AMT reissued the injection version it was copied from, so I went and bought a load of those (one of which even got built). Still not sure what to do with it as I have precious little time to build stuff these days. But, for what it is, with it's hollowed-out cages, it's quite a cool kit. It was a step in the right direction at a time when there were no Eagle kits available to the casual modeller like myself. I say casual, but that just means it takes me about a year to build one kit as I'm a perfectionist with hardly any time to spend on my hobby!

Guess so. I always had an idea of combining an MPC/Airfix kit with the hollowed out cages of this kit... but it was only ever that; never more than an idea.

Ultimately, this thing was just a filler 'til a good 12" replica came out, wasn't it? (And that proverbial good replica wasn't the MPC reissue, but PE's Eagle...) So this thing is probably doomed to sit on a shelf 'til I figure out what to do with it.

If you're never going to build it and you aren't going to keep it as a collectible, there are guys here who might buy it from you.

I can't imagine why, but they might.

Heh! Good advice. I prefer to see my kits built and displayed... I'm not a huge collector of unmade kits per se (though tell that to the wife and she will snort derisively). But you're right: I'd rather that this little oddity went to a good home where it was loved warts 'n' all than languishing on a shelf where it's never going to be seen.

I'll take some pics and put up an ad in Taybor's emporium.

By the way, Chris - it's a pleasure to talk to you and indeed everyone here. You're a bit of a legend, especially to Eagle nuts like myself who buy more Eagles than they actually build. Wish I'd found this forum sooner, but better late than never. And hats off to you, Base Commander for putting it all together.

Is there an emoticon for blushing? You sure you got the right guy?

It's Mark's party. I'm just a guest. He's the one putting all the work in. Just enjoy yourself and bring some friends tomorrow. We're all Eagle pilots here.

Just got my kit in this evening and found some broken pieces

nothing that could not be fixed. It is an Ertl kit, but the command

module has been reworked in height and the rear of the cm has been

extended. I am slightly disappointed that it is not the Warp kit as I had

figured, I eventually would get a Warp kit, but my heart is now set on the

RU 23" Eagle , seen Mark's buildup of somewhat of mess of a kit

to a masterpiece . Mark's build has inspired me to cough out

some stash to purchase the RU kit.

Lol, thanks.

T'was a bitch to build and I'm beginning to shudder when I look back on some of the techniques I used.

Good luck - and don't forget to bring us updates here.
