Call me a cynic but it looks to me as if allyou'll be getting for the thick end of 500 is the access building and docking tube, NOT the pad, otherwise why would they be:
showing the building on its own, with a 'top hat' stand to stop it overbalancing?
Not have the Pad Painted?

Nothing I've seen on their site fills me with confidence about ANY of their products

No it includes the pad too;

'The model has a large diameter of over 24 inches and will feature the main circular platform along with the main 'embarkation building'. The replica will also feature a walkway tunnel that can be displayed either retracted or docked with any 12 inch Die Cast Eagle Model. '

You never know - we might be surprised - 1612 might announce it comes complete with a 'smart' lighting kit (illumination increases as the evening draws in). And also a remote control to activate and control the hydrolic Eagle lift! (we dream on...)

Default Release date November 2010

Well, November 2010 is slipping away fast. Any news on the launch pad, 1612?

Funny, I actually contacted Steve at 1612 yesterday and got this response nearly immediately:

Hi Steven

Looks likely to be next year now.

Will update site shortly and keep you posted.

Best
Steve
Seems we still have a bit of wait, I just hope they re-release the 12in Eagles around the same time to coincide with this.

Steven

Just as I posted the previous response, I heard back from Steve again to my question about a 12in Eagle re-issue:

Hi Steven

Unlikely at this point

Oh well, I'm glad I got each of the models (except the gold/chrome versions) back when they first came out. Didn't like the incorrect stripes on the Medical Eagle and painted my own on a second standard Eagle. I even took the time to repaint the Freighter Eagle from the gray winch housing to white per the original model.
