There were three original army trucks, can't remember if this has already been mentioned. One was open topped, one was solid sided (radar truck) and the other soft sided. The hard sided one bought the farm (in a rather spectacular fashion) in Thunderbird 6 when Dover Missile Base is obliterated.

In Point 783 the truck destroyed splits in half, the cab is obliterated and the chassis remains. This chassis looks like it has some sort of tanker fitted? Could this be the open topped on with a modification? Also, only one of the 783 trucks is destroyed; the image is then mirrored to make it look like a different target. (783 is one of my favourite episodes, the Unitron is an amazing piece of kit)

If I coulld get my hands on the type of toy that Areteecee has, I could try and make this truck:

This truck reminds me of the Nazi Mercedes-Benz truck from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Anyone should think twice about owning up to being able to do screen grabs of Trumpton, Chigley and Camberwick Green...

The model trucks reminded me of a Matador more.

If you want to do a small scale one Airfix do quite a few Matadors, like the Matador and the field gun etc. Might be able to do some chopping up and stuff if you can't afford one of the rarer larger toys. Im interested in seeing how this build turns out

Thats a good idea , I made a model of a six-wheeled RAF tanker that resembled the Metador when I was about 8/9, I made it crudeley so I decided to rebuild it, but I didn't think about rebuiding it into one of these trucks then , I rebuilt it as a flat-bed to go with my 00 scale trains, I'll proberley get a kit of the Metador and make it as one of these trucks.

That would be the refuelling set with the bedford and the Matador. I built that when i was 12, found it frustrating. If you gat the Matador and 5.5 inch gun set it should be relatively easy...rustle up an extra matador axel for the second rear wheel set. you might have to extend that body...but with some plasticard it should be fine. Plasticard will allow you to make the bodies for the solid side trucks

looking at that picture you can see how they recycle bits. if you look carefully at the bit next to the wheel Mike is talking about , silver and 2 red bands , it's the bit that thunderbird 3 sits on in the launch silo , i believe it's part of a vacuum cleaner
cheers Paul

... And there's a row of those squares (formed from 4 triangles), that adorn the Marineville tower again.

yeah, those pyramid pieces look more like kit parts there.

and above the yellow wheel, on the wall and along the roof at the back is white ribbed material used on Thunderbird 5
