Default Project nears completion!

Hi all, well, this is getting exciting, I might actually finish a model! But seriously, she's nearing completion, been busy building a new police 'lightbar' today from ABS plastic sheet, just about all constuction elements now finished-had a nightmare fitting the 'bull bars' at the front end, as originally I intended to scatchbuild a new more accurate set. But time and dosh means I've ended up using the 'toy' version-if I'd known this from the start, I could have saved a lot of time & effort Anyway just a few more bits and bobs to do, then police markings, badges etc to put on then a good old dirtying down, I will be drilling holes in the bodey of the model, so I can put 'police lights' flashing LED's in the lightbar, but that will be the last job. Can't find lead to download pics at the moment, but will download them by weekend.

Cheers...........

Ok, time for an update. Not much progress on the model in the last week, been busy knocking up some prop reps to sell, but have been test running possible police lights for the cruiser-will crack on next week (hopefully)

I liked the method they used on the original studio models:

They had a male and female jack connector. Put power to the female, soldered a lamp to tags on the male, with a little reflector behind it. Then a gear wheel was put onto the male part of the jack which matched up with the gear on a motor. Thus, when the motor was turned on, the lamp span around without breaking contact with the power. The same motor could then be used to drive 2 lamps at the same time/speed.

Brilliant!

I had a play with this method and it works really well. Even for something like a miniature lighthouse or similar.

Cheers Mike Will finish this sooooon! Fastinating insite Dave, although this detail is beyond my ability and the LED's appealed as they are so bright. But as stated previously, I'mm not sure I'll be able to fit the lights to this version, if not there are another 6 or so to go!

Thanks again for the compliments guys, Managed a few hours over Christmas to do a bit more detailing to my Space Precinct models. As the cruiser will never be an exact replica of the studio prop ( as it's based on the vivid imaginations toy) I decided to add extra signage detail to it-well it only has to please me!! Any way still a bit to go on painting/police signage etc to finish these models, here's some more pics.

Cheers,

Wayne

By the way, if your thinking the ambulance crosses look a little odd, thats because they were only test markings-the final designs will be added as decals, I have them ready

Thanks again,

This is neat, I'll be following along. Funny that your putting police lights in it as I'm doing something similar I've been planning for a while with thunderbirds. Looks good so far, keep it up.

Default Murder in downtown Demeter!

Heh, Heh a little bit of fun I did earlier this week. Excuse the crudity of the shots, their on a iphone and the whole was put together in an hour-including backdrop creation/painting/dressing etc. I also shot a little video, which has music and a NY police radio conversation. When I have more time, id like to shoot this properly.
