Wow I have never seen that picture before but yeah that leg cut out is definitely the one in the picture I posted. The Eagle itself looks like the model in the show with a cut out leg.

What I never quite fathomed is why they didn't either use multiple cameras on the same scene, or repeat a filming of an Eagle on set with a another angle. This way you can use different footage of the same scene and it will look fresh (not stock footage repeated).

They must have been under some serious budget and time constraints to periodically resort to paper cutouts!

The only real flaw with the rescue Eagle blowing up in "War Games" was the angle they shot it at. If they had matched the camera angle better, people would be none the wiser. But, the exploding scenes were intended to be relatively quick shots anyway.

Now one that struck me as odd was the episode where several of the crew on a planet became cave men. You had 3 Eagles sitting next to each other on the ground and one was clearly cardboard. But, at least the angles were about right.
