UFO, but could end up as 1999. Not sure yet! Just playing with sheets of plasticard at the moment. All very Blue Peter...pass the stickyback plastic

I really like the UFO era- the Mobile is one of my favorite ground craft (after the SPV). I always wanted to see more of the Earth based equipment in that show.

Got a basic shape blocked out in sheet plastic but not sure if i like it yet!
Spent an hour in Asda looking at packaging shapes for ideas. Will be hitting the pound shops next week for inspiration. I do not have a lathe, vac forming capabilities, accurate drilling machinery so I need to maximise my borrowing skills in order to keep the costs down. Will post a few pics when its worth looking at but at the moment its just white sheets badly put together. This is my first scratch build since being about 18 and that one, a type of Star Wars snow speeder with cannon, never got finished! So my skills are rudimentary to say the least, but It is fun to build something and have problems to overcome as you go. The general shape is just something in my head in terms of a 3D shape, and a very rough side on sketch, which is staring already to look totally different to the physical model! Well, will press on regardless and trust in my overall image of what I would like it to look like. WISH ME LUCK! |

Right, here we go. My model will be based on a SHADO land vehicle. I will be using an old RC vehicle chassis to build on top of.
Pic of chassis attached. Also attached is a sketch of what I was going to do with the chassis last year and will be similar to what I will build not but with a change of application the vehicle has been designed for. And yes, it has been pointed out previously that the trailer looks like a horse box Will post pics of body shell soon. |

I like the sketch above- I always thought SHADO needed a heavy ground transport. I am wondering about the addition of a secondary sensor dish on top of the trailer thing since with attached you get a big blindsport with the cab dish.
Looking forward to your build photos- I need to start chopping plastic on my project this week if I am going to have enough time to do everything I want to do. |

I know the feeling about time running out. I keep having lots of ideas and if these carry on, I will never get it finished.
Post something soon to look at. |

Finally!
Although it was meant to be waterproof, it leaked and the internals were ruined so it does not RC anymore which is a shame, but my model will have to be static. Will not have time to mess with the electrics anyhow ( not that I would have the slightest idea of what I am doing with them any way |

For fine adjustments, I have always found an industrial rasp file to be of great use
Body coming along, but some bits I need are on the way but could be over a week yet before I get them. This build is going to the wire. I presume the end time is 23:59:59 on August 31st. Just want to check as will be burning the midnight oil till then. Not STRESSED YET AT ALL! Really enjoying it though. Wish I had industrial drilling/routing etc tools though. I do have a set square but it does not seem to be working properly |

Here is a sketch of my intended build. Hope you can make it out as the scanner struggled.
It is a SHADO Mobile Attack Vehicle or MAV. |

I like this design. What scale are you building to?

The Scale looks to be about 1/24th. I have some Fujimi F1 figures winging their way from Hong Kong via ebay, but it could be 1/20th depending upon how the figures fit into the turret. I think 1/24th will be right. This makes the real thing about 6.4m long i.e about 3/4m longer than a sherman tank. This I think feels about right for a compact destroyer needing to be fast and mobile, as well as transportable globally.
How long was the shado mobile meant to be. Does anyone have length, width, height figures? Some perceived performance stats would be useful too. Any Knowledgable members out there? Last edited by forza27; 18-07-2011 at 11:41 AM. Reason: spelling |

Scale will be 1/24th. Did a bit of plastic and balsa bashing to create the basis body shell.
