Would love to go but work has me pinned down this week, report what happens if you can please Chris. I expect Penelope to fetch 20,000+ the market seems very strong for these kind of art pieces.

More exciting than Wimbledon..!

Im going and meeting with Jamie, yes the description was amended after a lot of pressure. Very poor showing from Bonhams, its all about the money in my opinion.

It will be interesting to see what the Chaplin film sells for, they say a six figure sum which is not bad
for a 3 investment on ebay plus postage of course...........

I'd better finish that statement....

How much did the Scarlet GUARD head go for...

Sorry for the confusion.

And how much did the Chaplin movie sell for or better yet is there a feedback site?

Did anyone take any pictures at all?

What were your impressions of the day?

Did Penelope go to anyone we know?

Spill the beans guys, we had at least three special agents on the ground, what happened? It must have been really exciting,

Penny sold to a telephone bidder who was bidding against a line bidder. That telephone bidder also bought the desk and display cabinet. Understand the whole lot has gone abroad.
A lot of interest and a packed sale room complete with BBC camera and interviews.
The Penny puppet was the highlight along with the Chaplin film which didnt sell.
The atmosphere was electric, the buyers facinating, so many different characters. Im sure I was sitting next to two old rockers both with hand made crocodile shoes..taste and lots of money then you had the t shirt brigade at the opposite end.
Good fun but a dangerous place as its easy to spend and the commission is the killer lurking for the unwary.
I will post some pics later when I work out how to get them off the phone.

Default Bonhams day

Here's some pics I apologize for their crapness
I wanted to buy an assortment of photos & prop furniture plus the Scott figure, but it went past my budget
I was in total shock at the price of the Scarlet Guard head in fact it's been bugging me as I once owned 3 heads but sold them at a low moment
Lady penelope was lovely
My dream puppet has to be Destiny Angel
I just love auctions I actually stayed to the end, apparently a 1 oz Gold John Lennon commemorative coin sold for 60k
I took 2 friends & they had a great day

I think I have nearly every Auction catalogue where anything of a Gerry Anderson nature has been sold
If anyone wants me to add pages of these catalogues to this link I can as I scan every page of each auction (just the Gerry A related stuff)

It did seem like a very high price for a head that was only used in a handful of episodes, and was heavily revamped for its appearances in The Secret Service - although it was good to see a head that was previously "missing in action" had survived.

So which three heads were you lucky enough to once own? Presumably you got those at the 1995 Phillips auction.

Hi Larry,

Yes please add what you have I will compile them into a reference section. We do have one or two in the puppets thread but it will be handy to have them stand alone.

Thanks mate.

I believe the guard is one of the two from "The Mysterons" that are behind glass when Captain Brown and the world President move past them on the conveyor belt, he had a moustache throughout Captain Scarlet

The guard was head was in five episodes of Scarlet the biggest role being that of a policeman in the big ben episode. It has the distinction of being in the first and last episodes of Scarlet.
As previously said it was the airport controller in mayday mayday in Secret Service.
The head is complete and in remarkable condition with the undercontrol wires and solonoid in place, which in its self is rare.
One of Terry Curtis's original sculpts kept by Christine for some personal reason, maybe she repainted and wigged it? I think all of that adds up to a very desirable head.

Do you have any pics of the undercontrol wires and how they attach to the inside of the head?
