Default 'John knows best'

Interesting to note how often Koenig was absolutely correct in his judgement, even though others did not initially share his viewpoint - for example -

1. The Exiles - he was correct not to trust Cantar and Zova
2. Bringers of Wonder - he saw the jelly monsters for what they were
3. Guardian of Piri - he recognised the brainwashing scam

Any other examples come to mind ?...

In BOW, it was by chance. His connection to the Ellendorf complex freed him of the alien influence. Otherwise, he would not have seen them as they were any more than anyone else would have.

Collision Course - He trusted Arra's assertions that Aetheria would not destroy Alpha
Death's Other Dominion- he was suspicious of Cabot Rowland's offer of immortality
End of Eternity = he was the first to see through Balor's story

Good points. However, on the other hand I've just thought of an episode where he definately was not correct in his judgement - 'A Matter of Life and Death' - where he goes to the planet, even though Victor tries to warn him against it...

Alpha Child - Koenig is the only one who does not trust Jackie Crawford.
Dragon's Domain - Koenig is the only one who believes in Cellini's report.

I think Koenig had an advantage in that as well as being an extraordinarily strong willed man his time on Zenno in Missing Link strengthened his mind after the tests and experiments he went through. I believe he was also told when he left by Raan that he was taking something of Zenno with him. That is why I always watch it before Guardian of Piri as it seems to make much more sense watching them in that order, but as far as I can recall I am sure when I saw it on Granada first time it was shown the other way round, but that first time order was more than a bit silly.

The novelisations from the 1970's, based on the original shooting scripts, put "ML" before "GoP" and suggested that very thing!

I do have the novels CR but its been over 30 years since I read them (did read them a lot though considering there were no video players about),maybe it burned into my subconscious somehow or it seemed logical after watching them on tv,who knows?
Your right about the script writing too Keith, lucky Koenig did not have the Thunderbirds movie scriptwiter to look out for him, probably would have been six feet under before they left Earths orbit.

Or his other great catchphrase, "No!"

In The Last Enemy, to Dione: "No! You have no place here! None!"

Almost expecting him to say "This is a local shop for local people!"
