Default Series 1 sudden change from "Alpha Child" onwards

Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere but, working through the series 1 episodes on Blu-ray there is an obvious change from "Alpha Child" onwards. The lighting on Alpha changes. It all becomes darker. The top half of the wall panels in main mission are not lit and virtually none of the ceiling panels in the whole of Alpha are lit. This gives all of the shots in Alpha a much darker appearance and not as bright and clear as the preceding episodes.
Wonder why? Did the money run out for the electricity meter at Pinewood?

Maybe they experimented with the lighting to give Alpha a more gloomy look..

I might have answered my own question: I have yet to find out how many episodes this situation goes on for as still working through them, but maybe this was something to do with the strikes in the 70's which caused power cuts. I have seen mentioned that filming continued during this time with Pinewood running on generators. Maybe the generators were not enough for the whole of the lighting required?

Having now seen all of Series 1, the darker lighting of Alpha runs all the way from "Alpha Child" to the end of the series. If you go back to watching one of the first episodes after watching one of the last, the difference is striking. I dont think it could be the power supply issue for that many episodes.
Also, Alpha Child is where the sound goes wonky as well, for around 5 episodes. The level of the background sound (especially in main Mission) varies depending on whether there is dialog or not. Its really irritating! When there is no dialog, the sound level gradually increases then it drops down as soon as there is some dialog. This issue is fixed in Troubled Spirit, or might be Space Brain, onwards.

Regarding the sound, couldnīt it be, that there were a small mix up during sound editing of the DVD set ?
