(Incidentally this very darkened look to the UFO saucer is only acheivable with a model having a reflective chrome finish) Last edited by elder7uk; 12-03-2012 at 10:45 PM. |

By the way, this is the first HD screen grab I've done.Even 100 watt Halogen at 2 feet distance depends on the gain setting of the video camera.A setting of 6-9 dB produces the best effects, however when you start increasing the effective shutter speed to 1/125 1/180 etc more light is required. The above shots were 1/50 at about 9db This seems to be the trade off between HD and quality. So investing in Fresnel lamps of between 150-300 watts may be the way to go. Ahemm, let's get this party started - perhaps starting a list of people interested?
Price is a consideration, but I've found your prices very fair! How about something like? 1. x1 Propland - motorized, dome hangers, assembled, finished 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. .....please edit to accomodate :-)

Hi Guys,
Part castings are underway, dome vac forms will start to be made as soon as I have some spare time. More pro work has kept me from the site and continues to box me in time wise. I am glad you all like it so far, thanks for the nice comments. I should be able to fix the price once the Vac Form people have had a chance to make some and can confirm the rate with me. It looks likely that I will be using a 2 mm thick Petg rather than an acrylic for the domes, There isn't much to choose between them except PetG is quite a bit cheaper, we are testing both materials to be sure. Commission builds will start just as soon as all the parts are here, I won't accept any payments until I have the kits or commissions ready to ship, please be patient and bear with me. If you want to add your name to the list that's fine, it will give me a better idea of how many to make in this run. |

Most of us will want to make this thing spin,
is 2 mm not thick enough to hang the whole kit ? |

2mm is fine if you want to hang the model from the dome. There is always the option to have it motorised so the whole model spins on it's base for a desk top display. I am reworking the motor arrangement to allow this option. |

I am up to my armpits in UFO parts, things are progressing well with the kit release on schedule for the end of April.
I am working the commission builds currently they will be delivered (and in one case collected) around then also. The prices are firm now: Kit only £95.00 As above with the motorising option (base spinning) £135.00 Built, Painted and motor installed £400 All the above plus postage to whatever part of the Shire you live in. DO NOT send any funds, I will reject them. PLEASE DO add your name to the list: You will be invoiced via Paypal when your item is actually ready to ship. I should be able to give a cost for shipping when the Post Office reopens on Tuesday after the Easter Holiday. 1. x1 Propland - motorized, dome hangers, assembled, finished 2. x1 Bobs56 3. x1 EagleLes - motorised desktop option, painted and finished. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. I'll try to post some pictures soon, back to the vac former for now. |

That UFO looks brilliant.
Unfortunately I am long term ill and money is is bad just now or I would have one in a minute. I have waited since the 70's for a spinning one. I am still scheming to get the funds though... http://www.flickr.com/photos/49602360@N00/ |
