I gotta say I hated the 20 minutes I saw. It started poorly and I lost interest after 10 minutes (two flashbacks in the first ten minutes -- not a sign of tight writing). Came back an hour later and it was even worse. It's more like the X-Files than Flash Gordon. No spaceships and Flash and Dale can escape back to Earth whenever they need. Uh... not the Flash Gordon I remember.

What is sad is that SciFi green lit this but didn't give a go to 'Caprica' - the BSG spinoff. Certainly no accounting for brains or taste there.

Man that's no Queen song that's for sure. Just more dicking around with memories.

I stuck it out for the full duration of the premier and found.

A magnetic strip on the back of Flash's fathers 13 year old drivers license.
The magnetic strip was not used 13 years ago.

When Flash is standing in an archway of his home, an electrical barrier
is put up to hold him. There are three points that generate this field all
of which are only on one side of the archway. 1 on the right side
of the arch, 1 on the left side of the arch and 1 on the floor in front of him.
He can't move forward. Did I mention He is standing in an archway??????

In order to travel from Earth to Mongo, Flash merely needs to use his remote control
and He is on his way. Sliders, anyone????

When arriving on Mongo Flash and Dale are captured by the only flying vehicle
We have seen so far. They are captured using acquired Wraith technology.

The silliest aspect of this premier was that everyone was looking for a movie theater.
Obviously they wanted to see a real Flash Gordon film at their local IMAX.

We later find that while it sounded like they were saying IMAX,
they were really saying IMEX. It's a TIMEX watch wirth the T covered up.

The writers honestly should have went another way with
this one point. The two words are way to close in sound.

With another title and character names this could have been its
own show, even with it's blatent stealing of ideas from tv and films.
It strays WAY to far from any Flash We know.

It reeks of low-budget no-talent thinking. Count me out.

Saw some pictures in a magazine - that was enough to put me off. The lead guy looked totally mis-cast and the visual style looked like a bad eighties soap.

It was a piece of crap plain and simple. It failed to capture any of the Flash Gordon spirit. Very disappointing.
