I agree with and support your ethos and working practices Jim - keep all your legitimately gained info to yourself. Why give the recasters an edge?...

I fully understand Jim...hadn't thought about the consequences of the information being passed around like that.

Oh well - I still live in hope of an Ultra Probe one day...

I've just been talking with Stephen and it is not really going to be practical for me to do it. The costs of producing the molds and the resulting end-costs of each kit will be prohibitive. I'd need a guaranteed sale of at least ten kits at something like $600 apiece (rough estimate) to make it worthwhile to produce them. If I can get ten people to commit to that kind of price I think we could work it out.

Using unpublished and rare pictures (Thanks Chris!) I've been able to research the Metaprobe quite accurately. The result of this research will be in kit form very soon. The model will be about 2 feet long when finished and will consist of resin parts, vacuformed solar panel "wings" (to keep them light) and other hardware (plastic and metal) needed to finish it all off.

The model is to scale with the popular 12" models and is the same size as the studio model too.

Below is a picture of some of the mastered parts. Michael Dentzer did the finising work on the nosecones, like the panelling etc. from a shape that I roughed out.

Jim,

With your pulling out of Eagle accessories etc, will you still go ahead with this little beauty as well as the glider models ?

There are plenty of people here that would love to order these kits and it would be such a shame to scrap these projects before they went in to production...

Heck I hope that this model is still going to go into production, I was looking forward to getting one of these.

Yeah, I already paid for getting the gliders and Metaprobe done. There will be ten of each, including the prototypes (leaving nine) unless there is a lot more interest shown.

I'll re-introduce other stuff too IF I can get enough people to commit to buying them to justify another run. On some things, like the older stuff, the molds have worn out and I can't justify making new molds unless at least ten of each item can be sold.

So if anyone wants to absolutely commit to buying these out-of-production items, let me know immediately and I'll put your names in a special folder. If there are enough people, I will announce so to each of you, THEN you can place your orders. If those who promised to buy come through, I'll use the money to get the new runs done. If there are not enough, those of you who sent money will have it refunded.

Yes, I know there are some of you who will be getting these, but for additional runs to be made I need quite a few more willing participants...

Also, Steve, who does my molding and casting now, is seriously swamped with work and I am still waiting for him to get stuff done that are MONTHS behind schedule. I kinda overloaded him with some of the new stuff as well as a few other things that needed doing. So, whatever happens, nothing's gonna be done anytime soon, so you all have time to save some coin for those kits you want.

Plenty of time to save up eh, tch there is always a catch.

Although I need to see about placing an order for some kits if they are available, but it will have to wait until the New Year now.
