It appears to be connected to drug research. Bizarrely. Non profit organisation. They're recruiting. The video is very strange even by Japanese standards.

I agree with Masterspy... but I'd add that it must have cost quite a lot to set up.
Also, the clips from the show are 4:3 and look to be from an HD source. Hmmm... |

If it makes it any clearer (it won't) here's a translation from the main page (not terribly naturalistic, but then I'm not a pro):
"Individualistic medical care / Anti-bacterial medicine. Rescue humanity!" According to the video, this is the new path for International Rescue. And the clips are not HD - they're from the 1999 SD transfers. |

I just went to the new recruit section with Brains giving a speech wearing a labcoat.
I noticed the (c) ITC legend at the bottom of the page... is this authorised by Carlton? I mean a Japanese company using their characters to promote the eradication of disease? I've seen weird things when I've been in Japan, but this is one of the strangest. Must ask my GF if she knows about this... ![]() It seems to be part of a pharmaceuticals firm called Kyowa Kirin. However... I like it |

Still, I suppose it's like "Compare the Meerkat" being a crowd-pleasing offshoot of Compare the market.

I'm not sure about that. The Compare the Meerkat has some sort of public marketing value to it. This, it seems from the video, seems to be aimed at companies.

My Japanese is rusty, so I don't know some of what the site is about.

In Japanese. Though it's a Q&A. Strange questions like, "Do you apologise even when you've done nothing wrong?"

Well that's Japanese culture for you. My GF does that all the time, as do my Japanese friends... I keep saying 'please don't apologise' but they keep doing it.

It's a social thing. It's not a sincere apology.

you've never seen a used panty vending machine? You never saw the full scale gundam? You've never gone to sun city for a live action godzilla show? You need to get out more if you can't find weirdness in japan. Heck, on my street was an establishment called 'The John Diving Adventure'. Last edited by Ham Salad; 18-06-2012 at 05:22 PM. |

I've never been to the super-hero festivals with Ultraman and Kaiju of various types... they've never been on when I've been to Japan. As for the used panties vending machines... I've never had any desire to look for them, although I've heard of them. Same as umbrella vending machines - I know they exist, I've just not seen one. I don't actually class any of them as weird. |
