Had you thought of weathering it a bit?

Thanks alot fellows!
Thanks also for the suggestion, though I'm much more inclined to send an article to
Sci-Fi and Fantasy Modeller instead. I've got plenty of images taken during construction,
just need the words! If only I can find the time...
As for the weathering, perhaps I should have gone a bit heavier because the photos really don't capture the subtle airbrushed details and paint chipping that I applied to the model. I'm always afraid of over-doing it and so usually err on the lighter side. You really have to see the model in person to discern much of it.

You've nailed it here. It does remind me of the real thing, such as those on the rivers in my state. Very nice, and well designed and thought out!

Very kind of you sir!
When I think of how little time Martin Bower was given to build the
various ships for Space:1999 for instance, I'm still in awe. I always thought he had the best job in the world and have often wondered how I would have fared under such constraints...probably not very well!

Me too in that respect,Mr. Taylor. The works of Mr. Bower in the kitbashing are widely known by all of us and have always left me wide-eyed and wide-mounthed.He's a natural in the modelling, not two ways about it.
