It was mentioned on another forum I visit, looks bleeding awesome! Berton Pierce, who directed it, has done some interesting stuff, so it's got a lot of potential!

Wonderfest would be an ideal place to show this and I would venture to
guess it would be 'standing room only.'

That's a lot of craftmanship and talent in what we see in this spoiler. No matter how much CGI evolves this art couldn't be lost, never.Nowadays audiences spot quickly what's CGI and what's not and I think they continue to prefer the mechanical effects with real models.I have nothing against CGI sfx,it has its place as complementary to the other effects, but basing all the sfx shots on it is rather tiresome and creates an effect of irreality in the moviegoers mind.At least that happens to me.
Great link,and even in its shortness,very enlightening.Salutations.

Will people please stop banging on about the ill's of CGI.
Who do you think builds CGI models?
Not programmers that's for sure.
Tools change, but the skills remain unchanged.

Rant over

I don't actually agree with this bit....

Good CGI is very much like good model work, both have to suspend your realisation that what you are looking at is not what you think you are looking at to be successful. Both are different ends of the same stick.

I prefer good SFX over bad SFX however they are produced. What will kill an SFX sequence stone dead is when it interferes with the flow of the storyline. I think it should add to the action in the story and not attempt to BE the story itself.

There are obviously good and bad examples of SFX shots but in my view the best ones compliment the storytellers hard work to suspend your disbelief.

To make myself clear,I writed over the abuse of CGI's.If you read my writing carefully. In any phrase of the text CGI's are condemned. What I wanted to precise was the fact that it has to be a good balance between one kind of effects and the other kind.If given this.I hope, clear explanation, you feel offended is not my fault.Nor my intention, either. In fact I consider that programmers have a hard and sacrified work, that is worth to praise and recognize.

Really liked the Spinner model in there. The original filming model is in a miniature museum in France. Here's a link to there site but unfortunately the Spinner pic is gone. They have it though. In the film section you can see the Huge Leviathon filming miniature on display along with a nice big "Fifth Element" miniature car being restored
