Default UFO model question

Hello people!
This is my very first post on the forum.
I will attempt to scratchbuild an UFO model about 5" or 6" wide. I will use as reference P. Rae blueprints and pictures found at Starshipmodeler site.
On that drawings there are parts referenced as "clear ribbed" and "clear frosted". Would this make the radiating fins, cone and paddles clear?
Why do other modelers make them solid silver chrome?
I thank you in advance for your awnser,
Pablo

An original UFO is shown in the Thunderbirds `Pink`book and shows the fins painted silver,or as it is now known silver foil was used
that will be why most people are doing a sliver fin version

Thank you, that´s very helpful!
So, the "paddles" may be traslucent or they should be tape chromed?
