Just saw the obituary in the New York Times. Thanks for all the memories from Supercar to Space: 1999.

Rest in peace

Thankyou Gerry for making my childhood a happy one. I wished you got a knighthood for all that you have done, once again thankyou.

My condolences to his family ... Rest in peace Gerry Anderson.

His shows bring back so many great memories, and are still a joy to watch today.

Surely the saddest time in GA fandom. Gerry created precious pieces of my childhood - I'm going to hold on to them even more tightly.

So many space-men have passed away this year, Neil Armstrong who took us to the moon, Patrick Moore who showed us how he got there and the wonders of the universe and Gerry Anderson who made me believe I could get there and entertained millions for 50 years with his fantastic TV programmes, rest in peace gentlemen.

There was a nice tribute to Gerry on BBC2 Newsnight last night [Friday] about 5-6 minutes long. Several interviews from the funeral cut in to a reshowing of an interview from 18 months ago with Gerry. It is available on the bbciplayer, I don't know for how long.

With the sad passing of Gerry Anderson, science fiction television lost yet another important icon (I remember in 1991, when Gene Roddenberry and Irwin Allen both passed away in a very short time). It's sad that we're losing these creative people who brought joy to so many.

Gerry will live on in all the wonderful shows he gave us. RIP Gerry Anderson.

There's a big tribute piece that I've written in the latest edition of SFX.
