Smilies and other tags/codes aren't working for me today. They were all fine yesterday. I can only type straight, unmodified text, and can't insert emoticons. (I've changed none of my settings, either, so that shouldn't be the problem.)
At least I remember some of the tags (say, for ITALICS, for example), so that I can manually type them in.

Close, but the smilies box is there, as are all the text tools at the top of my message box. Even in a new post, I can't get anything to work!

Just tried it with this post, for example, to highlight & italicise a word, and to put a 'Hmmm...' smilie at the end, and nothing works.

You're running Firefox so I'm not really sure what to suggest. Have you logged-out and closed all browser windows? Maybe try a re-boot if that doesn't help.

Did you try the settings in your Control Panel?

Trying to figure that out now... you're talking about the User CP just under the forum header, right? Forgive my ignorance (I think I warned you way back that I'm not the most computer savvy person around here!), but I can't seem to find anything that fits (or even seems close to) the problem. If you're talking about my CP on my computer, I haven't changed any settings there, either, so that shouldn't be an issue.

I'm going to start by logging out & starting over, and proceced from there.

I'll be right back...

User CP > Edit Options > Miscellaneous Options > Message Editor Interface (right at the bottom of that page).

Set to Standard Editor or Enhanced Interface.

Standard editor is enabled by default I think.

OK, I'm back...
Yes, that's the default setting, which I've never changed, nor had a problem with.

Let me try to test things a bit...
BOLD, Italic, smilie.

Ah! Logging out seems to have fixed it! (I wonder what that was about, then?) Thanks for wasting your time helping me, Eagle! (Nice to know I was actually looking in the right spots/trying the stuff you suggested on my own; I don't feel like I was missing something obvious, then. Other than logging out, which was the most obvious thing of all!)

This seems as good a spot as any to post this, but LOOK OUT!!! We're in the midst of an invasion on Yahoo! slurp spiders!

Just click on the currently active users link above the names of who's currently surfing, and be prepared to reach for a can of Raid!

I like spiders (but only if they don't drain too much bandwidth)

Bug time...

When I try to preview or send a PM I cannot, I now get a message that says:

vBulletin Message
No private messages selected.

I have to copy and paste the quoted message and my new message into a new, blank PM box, and then all works okay. Any ideas?

Hmm, strange one. Anyone else getting this?

Are you quoting from a PM or a post?

Seems to be fine here - could be a Firefox issue or perhaps even your Javascript permissions? Has it only recently started happening - i.e. was it fine yesterday?

Is the title field filled in?... Try logging out completely, closing your browser then loging back in.

Will do. I use Safari 3.0 for my browser, if that makes a difference. And I've been experiencing this for about 3-4 days. It's just now that it's becoming a bother.
