The MiM kit is obviously the same. The only way to get the pilots to sit so close to the windows as seen from outside is to remove the control panel. I did that on the Aurora one, but installed it on the MiM kit and now wish I had removed it as well as it doesn't look like it did in the film. Ah, well too late now!

no you did right leaving it in. Chances are IF it is removed from anything, it was removed from the studio interior set to allow the pilots to be seen better in the 'front window shot'.
But the panel for sure is cannon for an interior build.

Unfortunately that is exactly my aim - to make the exterior look like it did in the film. Not really interested in what the interior looks like as you'll never see most of it (put a bit of work into the interior only because I wasn't sure precisely how much would be seen).
