Default "Thunderbirds" dubbed for America

Some of you may have heard that "Thunderbirds" aired in the United States in 1994 as half-hour episodes re-edited with new voices, music, and sound effects. No, this isn't "Turbocharged Thunderbirds". This is the horror of "Thunderbirds" on Fox Kids.

And what a f***ing insult that the credits for the "original" version zip by, then actually SLOW DOWN for the "revised" version" credits.

Insulting beyond belief.

The master tapes should be erased. Then burnt just to make sure.

I'm a Fan of the Original Series but, This was Madt at a Time When 'Power Rangers' was the Big thing and They were Trying to Appeal to 'Today's' Kids and how they see Things. I Think they Were WAY OFF in their Aim! Dan

Thankfully it lasted only 6 episodes and no more episodes were "adapted".

Default These "Birds" Never Flew...For Good Reason!

Also a fan of the original series! Still best left alone...

I too recall hearing such as a number of you have mentioned here; in particular, editing out those bits that showed characters lighting up/smoking. Different age, better understanding of smoking as a major health no-no; especially since episodes were being prepped for morning/kid-viewing time...

Still, that said, we all know where good intentions serve as the pavers. Turned out to be a terrible mistake ; and ultimately the attempt at a live-action film some years later fared little better.

Note to Fun Pod: terrific graphic - still laughing over it!

Such symbolism, too: Mr Anderson, M Melies...

Craptastic. Love the colorless music and amateurish, sedated voice acting. Reminds me of ROBOTECH.

My jaw hurts from hitting the floor so much... this is so bad you could lock it in a filing cabinet, bury it on the moon Titan and blow Titan up... and it would still make the eyes and ears bleed! What an insult.

Default Dazed and Confused...

"How come Stingray features in the titles?"

So, just how did this come about? TBirds titles were a piece of work just as they were, like the series itself in no need of improvement...

Warts an all, it was the first time my son had ever seen the show. For that matter, it would not be until years later when the DVDs became available that I got to see the series all the way through. But, as it was, he loved it. Then one week we found it had been replaced by...blech..the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. After that, he hated the Power Rangers. In the end, all that sci fi and love of space exploration led him to where he is today...part owner of a company who have a little something in the wings to get us further into space. And i think Thunderbirds got to play a part.
