I've changed the eye lighting on my tripod to make them more evenly lit.
I think it looks better.

It's been ages getting this far but I've finally finished it.
Price is going to be 130.
I'll need 20 deposit off people who want one. I'm not going to do many of them as the legs are a pain in the ass to cast.

It looks so great! But the 20 deposit, where do you want it? Been waiting a long time for this one, and still super excited!

Again, awesome work on that one! I had created several buildings like that one last year for a War of the Worlds Diorama, eventually I dropped the idea and the buildings are left in storage, it's a lot of fun doing buildings like that isn't it?

The tripod was originally going to be one piece hollow cast resin but I'm going to get a couple of the bodies cast in hard vinyl, it will just need joining around the middle but we're modellers.I've done one for myself and it comes out ok once filled and seamed.
Just a question to anyone who expressed interest in a kit, would that pose a problem for anyone or not ? Please can you let me know as I'm trying to get these sorted.

I don't think it'll be a problem, I'm more worried about painting it, painting is not my speciality. I'm more into the ''ready to display'' models, some basic assemply (like the Konami Models) but that's about it

But other then that, I can't wait! (I think I said that before ), just kidding, just really excited to finally have a Martian Fighting Machine

I'm having hell of a job getting these legs cast to be honest people.
Anyone know a good caster in the uk who's up for a challenge.

What's the issue exactly?

I know you used a tapered brush handle for the master, can't you use a tube for the majority of the leg with end caps cast in resin?

Dusting the mould with talcum powder with help it flow and avoid bubbles.

Use a large reservoir at the head of the mould to increase hydrostatic pressure in the mould, this helps to force the resin to fill right to the bottom.

Use a syringe to fill from the bottom of the mould, this is the trickiest method but will push the air out from the bottom up and is not relying on gravity to aid the fill, be sure there is no air trapped in the resin you are using (i.e. don't add any air).

I am at home for most of the time if you want to pop down and let me look at your setup I can give you a bunch of spare large capacity syringes.

No problem is unsolvable, you have done really well so far, don't give in now.

Good luck mate.

This is really doing my head in trying to get this model kitted, more than a few times I've come close to not bothering with it but I know a few people are looking forward to getting one so I will press on.
So I've now cut the leg mold and I'm going to do it in two halves with the reinforcement in the lower thinner part as trying to cast it in one piece was more than a little problematic.
I'll let you know how I get on. Got some bodies ready (they just need legs)

Hi Dean,

You'll look back and laugh later, it will so be worth the effort.

Chin up mate.

Still looks awesome! Cool to see the MFM's under construction like that, 10 pieces looks like a pretty d*mn exclusive model! How's the casting going?
