I just have to say, what you guys are doing here is really terrific. I spent a lot of time in years past (many years past) using crappy multi-generation videotapes trying to figure out how things like the Thunderbirds Red Arrow and Univited jets were built and then doing the best I could to duplicate them with the limited information that I had. You guys are so advanced of where I was at back then, and not just because you have access to the Internet and to razor-sharp Blue Ray episodes either. You're all true scholars. I wish that I could join you, but unfortunately work and other demands upon my time make this infeasible right now. In the future, who knows. Until then, I'm really enjoying what you all come up with. Please keep it up.

Apologies if this question’s already been asked and answered – but I was wondering if the building on Tracy Island that TB3 lifts off from was subsequently revamped to make TB5..? They’ve always looked very similar to me.

Nope, but apparently the Round House was based on TB5 (or was it the other way around ?)

Thunderbird 5 was based on the round house model - which had already been built for the show.

Nice one. The 'Straight Connector' is the piece off the roof of the Elevator Car

It does create a nice design harmony- both destinations for TB3 having the same basic shapes.

May I suggest that these are simply a strip of highly reflective chrome corrugated strip cut to size, which were used elsewhere on various models and sets in the series.

What gives it away is the different backgrounds behind, which are in fact not backgrounds, but reflections.

For a clue look at the panels on the base of the B142 spacecraft held by Commander Straker in UFO.

This is the same picture as the above, but this one has a lot of pixels more so you can zoom in a lot better.

Has the mystery of the ribbed pieces around the VW air hose been solved?

Also, does anyone else think that the half-round awning over the TB 3 docking port resembles a bit of cardboard tubing cut in half?
The parts on top of the dock looks like the corrugated cabin roof of the Dapol (C030) dockside/traveling crane - sitting on two sides of the crane arm/boom and the crane base side could be the large piece on the sloping front of the docking section body. (Sorry if that's been noted before.)
