Default ALIEN - Prop replicas

Sir Scott's A L I E N is one of my all time favorites...

I've been collecting magazines, books, toys, models, photos... and finally props from this masterpiece since I saw it in 1979...

Since I'm new to this board, I thought it would be nice to share some pics of what I have with you guys, just to show how much obssessed I am with that film !

Nostromo drinking birds. Recreated with the help of fellow propsummit board members who helped me identify the original toys when I started this project. I added the blue feathers, but also the white part on the hats (with correct sinogram written on both of them). The beaks are different on each bird, just like on the screenused props.

Weylan Yutani ASPEN beer, made from a vintage 16OZ beer can.
The labels were recreated from an unused, original label I bought some years ago from a former A L I E N crew member. The cup is screen accurate also (originally a vintage Tupperware mug). Same thing for the ashtray. it's a metal item repainted in olive green, like the screenused props seen on the Nostromo diner table.

Hope you'll like them !

More soon...

Fred

Saw it a long time ago... but thought that since these creations of mine weren't (of course) screenused props, they couldn't be posted in the "alien hardware" thread...

Thanks Capt. Dallas (OOOPS, sorry ! I meant : Capt. Sci-Fi !) for the warm welcome !

OK, more :

Nostomo pistol. Made and painted by morgan13th (propsummit and RPF member). I just added some Letraset where m13 had forgot to add some, aged it using graphite... the only upgrade I did was to replace the lower scope with a metal one taken from a MR Star wars / rebel blaster replica. It adds more weight to the gun, making it a little more realistic when you handle it !

Brett's Nostromo cap from the Thinking cap co. (released in 1979 / 1980)
Even if it's un-accurate (the patch should be light blue instead of dark to match the screenused hat), it's a classic and I'm very proud to own one !

Et voilą !

i have one of those too..very nice. you can get the lighter blue version badge on ebay sometimes. the original hat was also in that it was padded and the badge had no perimiter stitching.

very nice work btw

Yep you're right, but alas these ebay patches most of the time aren't that accurate... especially the ones at Intergalactic trading Co and such.

Did you know that Parker was a soft porn addict ?

Found this a few moons ago... Don't know how it came aboard the ship, but it would explain why we can see so many girls pics sticked in various Nostromo areas !

In space nobody can see you....

It's great to see that even in the future, soft porn mags are still only 50 Pence! I've just got to know what the Scott Fitzgerald story is about now!

Excellent thread Skin Job. "Leer at the lovely ladies" I think there was a certain pride in being a perv in the 70's.

OK, another one...

Ripley's (and Dallas) watch... Very distinctive design that was partially reused in Blade Runner (Bryant has the same kind of double watch).

Yes, it's made of 2 Casio F-100 casts...

The real F-100 are rather hard to score on eBay, that why the maker of this replica decided to go for a watch made of recasts... I'm still looking for one of these from time to time and I can understand it's going to be a loooooooong cyber hunt before I get one !

Yes, I did a run for some friends of mine 3 years ago.

Did this project when all info wasn't available yet, so my jackets weren't screen-accurate... but my friends still love theirs ... at least, that's what they told me ! (3 stood in France, 2 went to the USA and another one in Australia)

They were made using RAF Mark 3 jackets (not vintage), real soviet VKK pilot suit lacings, the best looking patches that were available at that time... and they were assembled together and dyed to look aged by a friend of mine who works in the film industry here in France.

I think I still have one (size Large) available for sale or trade in one of my closets. (the initial price was 500€ for one... My friend doesn't work cheap, I can tell you !)

My friend Ian has just finished this - it has real metal teeth;

It's based on a cast that I got from Paul Francis who was the license holder to produce them about 10 years ago. It's had a ton done to it as the hollow resin cast had been filled with polyfoam which had pushed the halves apart - the whole thing had to be cut down the middle and put back together again.
The jaw/inner teeth, dome and shoulders are a new sculpt.

Here's another one that he's working on;

As it transpires, a lot of the casts pulled from the foam stunt heads (probably Alien war copies) are a quite a bit too small, this has happened because of generations of recasting I'd say.

This has the elements of one of the original stunt heads but they have been expanded and "transplanted" on to the original Giger version - all the other details are being sculpted back it based on the shrunken warrior cast.

Very nice.
I always prefered the original with the Perspex skull.
