Default Tell Me A Story...

In recent times, we've all been reading/hearing/seeing various news stories concerning the proliferation of private-drone aircraft - popping up in unexpected, and dangerous, places...

Places like in the paths of commercial airliners and - especially here in California - actively interfering with firefighters' use of air-support to battle the terrible wildfires of this drought-stricken summer.

That is unethical, and utterly heinous, behavior...

That said, I can't help but feel that there's a Thunderbirds story knocking about in there somewhere. For myself, I haven't the technical knowledge to tackle it; but, perhaps, someone else out there might be game to have a go?

(PS: currently busy writing one of my own! )

Its not just individuals illegally using drones. Merseyside Police in NW England were using CCTV fitted drones without permission from the Civil Aviation Authority.

Points well taken. Technology tends to leap out ahead of laws needed to regulate it - leaving an abyss in which to abuse the privilege in the meantime...

...While there has been no drone activity on the Rough Fire, drones interfere with firefighting efforts. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) that is in effect and any private aircraft or drone that violates the TFR could face serious criminal charges. Even without a TFR, anyone who hampers firefighting efforts could face charges as well. For more information on drones the public can visit the FAA’s website at www.KnowBeforeYouFly.org. “If you fly, we can’t!”...

(From most recent update of InciWeb report on the Rough Fire (http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/4456/), burning in Kings Canyon National Park, Giant Sequoia National Monument, and at least two surrounding national forests in CA's Sierra Nevada. In past I've been to some of the area where this fire is, and driven the currently-closed Hwy 180.)
