Default Takara Tomy TBirds Are Go (2015) TB2 kit

After their Mole kit Takara Tomy are bringing out a kit of the new TB2 with TB4 in February 2016. 1/144 scale, 24 cm long, approx 26. This one looks like a snap together toy rather than model kit. Hope they do a TB Shadow.

Maybe I'm wrong but maybe they look worse as they haven't been put together properly? TB2 seems to look half decent from the top.

I won't be wasting my money on that, the classic styles of the originals
still have their charms!

The new ships don't have such nice lines as the originals but I'd still buy these if they're good. I hope they do Fab 1 too with clear lights and figures.

It's not just the nice lines,it's the right amounts of shape, lines and curves
balanced in the right ways, that's what gives the appearance of decent vehicle
and ship designs their special charms of quality.

Quality always beats quantity.

This looks to be very early low resolution 3D printer prototyping. I expect the actual product will fit really nicely.

You can see the print lines all over TB4. Not for me I'm afraid - not a fan of the CGI reboot.

The drawback of these snap together kits with removable sections is the huge panel lines they create. To get a proper scale replica you'd have to glue everything together and do some filling and sanding to get rid of the gaps. That means repainting everything as well (I'm guessing the parts are pre-painted).

Also I wonder if the kit comes with proper decals or if they've provided stickers instead. If anyone has picked up this kit perhaps you can shed some light on this.

I do like the Pod interior- I wish the model kits of the classic TB-2 had that amount of detail inside.
For toys the set isn't too bad.
