Hi,

I have plans to ultimately build an MPC 22" Eagle. However as I've not built a kit for over 30 years and have never owned an airbrush I thought I'd better get some practice in first!

So, I remembered that I'd bought the old Airfix Eagle many years ago, and after searching the back of the wardrobe I found it!

I know this is a much maligned kit, so I've just ordered a ParaGrafix Photoetch Set to make it a bit more accurate.

However, thinking ahead, the water-slide decals supplied with the kit are awful, can anyone recommend a replacement set? I've seen these, but they are not waterslide, anyone used them ?

Update: looks like I may have found the answer to my own question (although the site is temporarily not selling due to 'overwhelming demand') ...

I'd still be very interested in every ones experiences...

Thank you

Those eBay ones are stickers, and quite thick - they stand proud from the surface and it is difficult to get them to stay stuck to a curved surface (like the side of the CM).
I ordered decals from Jimbo at JBOT a couple of years ago. They took a considerable time to arrive - maybe a year (I'd written them off as a bad investment) - so unless you're very very patient I'd steer clear. Have you thought about scanning the sheet from your 22" Eagle and printing (at a reduced size) onto decal paper? I've not tried it (yet) but you can get the paper for either inkjet or laser printers from places like http://www.craftycomputerpaper.co.uk/category/Decals

Thanks for the tips Galligraphics.

I haven't got (or ordered) a 22" yet, but by the time I get it I might be in a position to need the decals so I could give the decal paper a go.

Its took a while, but hopefully I've solved my own Decal problem...

Today the postman delivered a brand new set of 1:72 decals from HDAmodelworx to go onto that Eagle kit I bought years ago.

I wont get chance to apply any until the weekend, but hopefully they will go on smoothly.

I've managed to find the attached image of detail of decal location, but if anyone has anything clearer I'd be interested. Thanks. .... Although I guess I can use the guide on my 22" which is waiting in the cupboard!

You did well, those decals are way better than what originally came in the box!

Still a work in progress (plenty of decals still to apply, and the Paragraphix window frames to attach), but these HDAmodelworx decals are going on OK.

I'm picking up tips prior to starting my 22"... for example the use of Microscale Micro Set + Micro Sol, plus I'll paint black in the corners before applying the beak decals.
