Default Captain Scarlet Haynes Manual

Another entry in the Haynes manuals for Scifi subjects. I have the Thunderbirds (classic), Star Wars Death Star & Falcon ones, along with the Star Trek Enterprise and Klingon Bird of Prey editions.

These are very well done- the feature cutaway illustrations, photos and detailed history and use/functions of all the major and some minor equipment.

I have had the Captain Scarlet Manual in my Amazon wish list for a while and finally got it this past Christmas. Haynes main focus is do it yourself automotive manuals, I have repaired may a car with them. They decided to branch out int he fictional universes with the same precision and high quality illustrations. For the price- currently $17.23 US it is a wonderful deal.

EDIT_
I just saw they have now a Ghostbusters Ectomobile manual out now as well-

The Anderson stuff is done by Graham Bleathman, an excellent artist who I believe used to do the cutaways for TV21 magazine.

Default It's for The (Thunder)Birds!

I love my Haynes Thunderbirds (Classic) Manual; it's among the first Andersonian items I ever sent off for (along with The Vault). Great reference for fan-fic!

And, yes, Graham Bleathman's work is truly amazing!

I have chatted to him on Facebook, he lives fairly close to me.
I have to say though, having built some of the models, some of his work is not entirely accurate to the originals, but it's pretty close. I guess there has to be a certain amount of creative licence going on as the originals were not expected to be scrutinised quite so intensely.

Like, how *do* the pilots get out of the UFO interceptors?

Accurate in comparison to what? Apart from the cutways he has drawn and some of the earlier cutaways from TV21 etc, there are no plans for the vehicles and in most cases the internals that were filmed probably wouldn't have fitted into the model anyway (eg Eagle command module). Graham has to use some artistic licence with his artwork to allow it to make any sort of sense.

Accurate to the shows themselves.
Sure, the internals are total imagination, but some of the externals aren't quite right.
I base this on the Thunderbirds elevator car as there were a number of anomalies when I was designing mine, and initially based my designs on stills and other models as well as his drawings.
