Well, one thing is for sure. With beautifully done stripes that small, and viewport inserts, you obviously don't need to see an Optomitrist.

Cool little model Mark, although, I personally would need a really good magnifying glass theses days to work on something that small, its a good job I have one then for use on my Wargame minitures.

Mmmmmm, although I do have around four sealed Moonbase Alpha kits laying around in my loft, shall I crack one or two of them.

Is that from the old Moonbase Alpha model kit? I had one when I was much younger, and loved the tiny little Eagles that had come with it.

It horrifies me to think of all the cool stuff I had as a child that now rests in the bottom of some landfill. I can spend a small fortune just reclaiming items that I had aleady owned at one time.

Sure is.

My Dinky Eagle collection was just that - reclaiming a damaged/thrown away part of childhood.

I lucky in that I still have all my played-with Dinky toys etc - completely battered and well used. I was never forced to dispose of them, and when I moved out of my parent's house, I had several boxes of these toys (as well as about 300 model kits) packed and in tow.

I hasn't stopped me buying mint or near mint examples of each again though, to rekindle the memories of what I once had.

I've just discovered through the links on this site, that you can obtain replacement parts & decals for the Eagles, Thunderbird 2 etc...so I just may have to refurbish my original examples to a standard I can display again...

Oooh - another project to take me several years...

Want to hear something really sad, the only Dinky die-cast models I ever had when I was a kid, (Gerry Anderson series wise that is), was Thunderbird 2. I never had any of the others at all, not one. So no memories or nostaglia for me to worry about then, mind you its saving me a packet now though.

I said that it was sad, I will drown my sorrow's at the bar, well about three to four pints worth before I fall off the bar stool.

I placed about 6 of these tiny and for their size very detailed eagles from the moonbase kit (like our Commander's) hidden among the other kitbashed parts on my last 44" replica. Kind of a tribute to all the old kits we loved.
