model aeroplane stands

one of the first things I thought about when I got my aurora B-58 kit, knowing that they used loads of them in Thunderbirds, I cant imagine that they had loads of these stands lying around from this and other model plane kits and wouldnt find a use for them, they look perfect for futuristic stanchions, for example a fire engine or industrial complex
anyone know if they actually used these on anything?
