I thought the second AMT Eagle was yours, cricket, and the first your son's.

Oh, I remember The Last Starfighter, too. Liked the ship designs. Some of the early cgi seemed a little dodgy, like at the end SPOILER when the bad guy ship crashes/explodes END SPOILER, but the Gunstars looked good throughout, if I recall correctly. (Great design, too.)

The 12'' Gunstar model sold by Comet was made by myself and my younger brother for his degree at herts uni, . I made a deal with him to mould it and sell it When he had done his biz with it. Comet sold quite a few worldwide.

I saw that MIM were doing a kit of it and tried to order one from monsters in motion thru comet becuse, I quite liked what they did with it. But it was the one model that they wouldnt supply, We got everything else.

I read about that on a thread but I couldn't find anything official. Do you have a link Brian?

Didn't follow the links yet, but the very idea of a sequel makes me wonder... will they re-title the original? (The Not-Quite-Last Starfighter)

Oh, and cricket... PM sent.

Oh, yeah, I saw that after I later followed the link.
I'm intrigued by the other list, especially the title Alien Christmas. Wow, that Alien franchise just keeps going! Alien spun off three sequels, then the whole Alien vs Predator cross-over, now Alien Christmas! Wow!

The Gunstar was a wonderful design, Ron Cobb's Bad Guy Fighters had one featuer that just barely shown on screen- all three engines were gimballed to rotate 90 degrees for landing. You only see it briefly in a panning shot of the big carrier as one comes in for a landing.

Here is an update on the plans to do a Last Starfighter sequel.

Titled: No Blastoff For LAST STARFIGHTER Just Yet.

http://www.filmbuffonline.com/2008/0...hter-just.html

It's hard to do a sequel to a film with the word last in the title.

I would actualy like to see a remake of the original.

And by the way, I'm still waiting for Tron 2.0

Strange for me to say this, but I would prefer a remake rather than a sequel, but I guess a sequel would allow us to see the craft etc and not stuff up the original.

Ok I've just got a DVD copy of this film and its like looking at it for the first time. And I take most of what I said about the cgi work back. The ships are most very good, the Gunstar in particular is great, the only thing really letting it down being the landscape work. Hats off to the guys.

So glad I found this, its great.

I heard a rumor the project is a go.

I do find it strainge they would make this film again. I remember when it came out, it only lasted 2 weeks in theaters.

The landscape was bad because of deadlines. Which is really too bad, I can't help but wonder how this film would have been received if they would have taken the extra time.
