Ah, a vague sort of threat. Gotcha. Well, being a mere woman and all, I'll mind my manners. Right, DX?

And Tony, remember, he started this. So there!

Now well it doesn't matter who started it you just have to get along you hear, I'll have none of this nonsense from you two... if I've told you once I've told you a thousand times....

Think of the starving millions...

(Did anyone else's mother say that to them??? We always wanted to pack the food up and send it to the starving millions so we wouldn't have to eat it, but I digress)

Any idea of cast suggestions?

In our office we used to recast shows or film versions of TV shows
with our ideal cast
Eg For a film of the A Team
Hannibal- George Clooney
Face - Matt Damon
BA - can only be Mr T
Murdoch - Jim Carrey

So who for Sharon Richard and Craig

This director usually does pretty well with getting the cast to suit. It will be interesting to see the choices he makes.

I was never that keen on this as a series, but without a doubt, one of the highlights of my career was reuniting the three of them for a documentary last year. A really fun day.

Still probably won't go and see this though!

The Champions was one of my earliest T.V memories back in the late 60s/early 70s and I hadn't seen it since , until relatively recently when I caught part of an episode . I was surprised how well it stood up and how "tough" the show was . William Gaunts character had no qualms about using deadly force against some "Johnny Foreigner" bad guy!

Like many the Champions was one of the many shows I grew up on and Alexandra Bastedo was probably one my very first if not the first crush I recall having.

Great news that they may be doing a film, been catching the re-runs on ITV4,.

Hope the casting director is aware of this young Lady, I think she'd make an ideal Sharon McCreedy (given her resemblance to Ms Bastedo)

Sadly her current career choice might hamper mainstream international film stardom

Yes she does look similar,

I only hope the film doesn't get ruined by this new director. I love the ITC Series the best in the 1960's, Fantasic Episodes all of them especially since I own the lot on Region 2 DVD.

Regards

Funnily enough that's almost the same hypothetical cast I once came up with, except I had Ice Cube playing BA (and Ben Affleck as as an alternative Face, maybe - I don't remember). ISTR reading John Singleton was signed up to direct an 'A Team' remake; apparently he does want Ice Cube for the part. (Maybe I should work in Casting.)

Knight1966, am I to assume the woman whose pics you posted is an, er, 'adult' performer of some sort?

One could assume that However I respectfully decline to confirm it as it may incriminate me

Apparently it now seems that Tom Cruise is connected to this project as a producer and potential lead too? Not sure what to think about that. THE CHAMPIONS really needs to be a team effort like the show was. MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE should have been like too but that ended up pretty much as a vehicle from Cruise to save the day alone as disguise expert, tough guy and gadget man all rolled into one. There were moments when there seemed to be a real IMF team but it always seemed to just end up as him. I am interested to see how this pans out but not holding my breath. Obviously with a 'name' like him he is always going to gain the lion's share of screen-time but lets see. To balance Cruise out how about maybe Daniel Craig as Richard and Sophia Myles or Kate Winslett as Sharon. Anthony Hopkins as Tremayne. Blimey imagine the wages each week!!!!!

Cruise would never have Craig in the same movie looking (and acting) better than him.

Agreed Chris. I was saying that it would take a co-star of Craig's standing to perhaps balance out the on-screen presence of Cruise to make a it a 'team' as opposed to being 'The Tom Cruise Show'.

I was really quite impressed with him being able to take the piss out of himself like that.
