Good luck Doug! My Moby is in a box waiting for "project" time! Seems to be less and less every year.

I've been in discussions with Smooth-On regarding a material to cast duplicates of the tracks. They are sending me a sample to try however we feel this will work as it's used in industrial applications.

Very interested to see the results of the product Doug. Are you going to make the tracks as per the toy or will you make individual links?

No, this will be a cast of the entire track in two halves like the TJ. I will also cast in brass tube for fastening reinforcement.

now that the Holiday rush is over I've cast a small test section of the track. It came out very well. While the material is softer than the vinyl rtrack it's tough stuff stretching many times itself without breaking.

Smile On the right track....

This project is very exciting, any chance of a picture or twelve please Doug?

We will shortly be stocking a resin kit of all the model kit parts required to complete a studio scale mobile. Watch this space.

Here you are:

Yes, the Urethane Rubber is almost clear. It is tintable and Smooth-on assured me it could easily be made black. Even the thin connecting portions are very tough and stretch (snapping back to shape) rather than breaking.

let's not cross post please (it's considered very bad form), RCnut has a thread on this site. You can make comments on his build there.

But at the time he posted the above comments he hadn't started his build thread (or up dates), hence why I comment here.

I commented at 7:41 am and his thread started at 11:10am , The only reason I put up a link was because for those who can not built their own Mobile body or don't have the time (me being one of them) Mamas can supply a ready made one, and as this site is all about sharing info I didn't see any harm in doing so.

You need to brush up on your forum etiquette. Posting in a thread about someone elses build and posting a link that has nothing to do with the thread startes topic is poor form. If you wish to complement someone work post in one of their threads OR start a thread about the great work someone is doing.

cross posting will get you banned on some forums. In more general terms its tacky and show a lack of respect for the original poster.

And lastly, RCnut started a build thread in 2009...

forum etiquette, not good form, well going on your earlier post, when you accused someone of doing something they had not done, then throwing your toys out your pram because he stood up for himself, and then you were going to take you ball else where to play, so that that's good forum form is it.

No harm was intended by the link post, just a useful site for anyone else wanting to build a mobile

And lastly RCnut build from the link is a different build from his earlier one.(as it states MK2 as to JWG measurements)

My interactions with others would be between myself and that individual and not for your commentary.
