Caught a bit of this week's episode and spotted a few respectful nods to the original series - Gordon finding an original Thunderbirds IR hat ("I can't believe we used to wear these") and a craft called the TV21

Default Continues to improve......

This was gripping stuff - as TB4 was slowly being crushed, and then when a worried, nay, shocked Virgil announced that TB4 was inoperative, there was a definite edge to everyone's reactions until Gordon radio'd through that he was OK. Almost took me back to the first time I saw Thunderbird 2 attacked in the original series. Several new shots, including TB2's glide path away from Tracy Island, and TB4's side on view above, and then immediately below, the water.

The footage of Thunderbird 4 underwater is really beautiful, very graceful and visually pleasing. They've also given Gordon an appealing character which has built up over the successive episodes. I thought the notion of finding TV21 was great and, as Dave's pointed out, the cap still intact in the cabin was a lovely touch. There's a definite emotional tug whenever Jeff is mentioned -his space explorations were remembered last week as well. Virgil was sitting playing the piano at the start of this episode too.

My better half summed it all up by stating that the programme makers could just have ridden rough-shod over the original series altogether, and just disregarded all of the much-loved features. They haven't and, instead, they've attempted to merge the new with some of the old. It doesn't always work but, when it does there is much to enjoy. Saturdays at 4 o'clock really are go!!

Kindest regards

Patrick

So far it hasn't been that bad but I still have a problem with those grappling hooks or whatever they are and I think there should be some deaths in it so it's not too sugar coated. The TV21 ship and hat were a nice touch. The hat bit was quite amusing.

At least they've put it on at a better time than before too.

Is this season still showing in the UK? I saw listings for up to episode 13 but nothing since. Have they split the season in two with more to come later?

Finally caught up with the 2-parter featuring Jeff's old craft, the TV21. Really enjoyed it, and it certainly showed the difference having 45 minutes to tell the story in, makes.

God knows. From what I remember they were on Sat morning and I think the holidays [ possibly Xmas ] interfered with the schedule and I haven't seen it since.

Hasn't been announced yet but I believe it's May 27th. We'll know for sure by next week (at the earliest).

This aged well. I now believe it's September 9 and I'm feeling a heck of a lot more confident.

Default Grandma Tourismo

If anybody would like see an example of a great Thunderbirds Are Go story then look no further than this episode, first broadcast Saturday 28th October 2017. If ever there was a Thunderbirds Are Go adventure which epitomised the true spirit of the original series, then this is it.

A whole slew of new beauty and action shots of Thunderbird 2, both battling through a vicious sandstorm and, momentarily, rising above it into clear blue skies - a break in the clouds. Glorious, exciting and entirely in keeping with the original programme.

A double jeopardy story, where all the cutting-edge IT and systems count for nothing, and it's all down to determination and "having a go". Doesn't matter who's flying TB2, she's designed and built to lend assistance and safety. Virgil's comment as TB2 takes off - "Look after her" - is ambiguous, but all the better for it, and created a real emotional pull.

Dialogue and back story which perfectly encapsulated the Thunderbirds ethos - they're ordinary folk, sharing the vision of their predecessors, and utilising the amazing technology at their fingertips to save lives. Not for profit, not for the glory, just because they care. Who wouldn't want to fly The Green Goddess!!

I'm not ashamed to say that I was misty-eyed at the end of this episode, because it was a great Thunderbirds story where everything fitted together perfectly. I know it's just aimed at kids, I know it's not the original, but I just loved it.

More of this please.

Saturdays really are go!!

Kindest regards

Patrick

It's awful.
Considering they spent so much effort on the models, the photography is lousy. Narrow depth of field and everything cut at a hellbreak speed. All the power and majesty disappears and they all look like toys. TB2 lands, drops a pod and flies off in three seconds flat. Utter crap.
