Default B7 Pics

hey Sage!

Thanks for the pics - always loved the "Blake" models.

Liberator has to be my all time favourite Spaceship design though - (don't go telling the Eagle Nuts! ;-)

Always struck me as a poor man's Millennium Falcon. Don't get me started on the Blue Peter eggbox interiors

Don't get me wrong, I'll buy the "Scorpio" to go with the "Liberator" - but the design was such a crushing disappointment to me when I first saw it. No imagination, I thought...

that's the whole point of the Scorpio- it's NOT a supership like Liberator was.

And after all, what did Blake ever do with the Liberator, anyway?

Run away, run away!

At least in Scorpio they had a valid reason to run, but it was then that Avon took over properly and started fighting!

I understand that, but the "ultra-fast hunk-of-junk cargoship" idea was hardly original. And another thing - even as a know-nowt teenager, I winced at the "Dorian Gray" inspired introduction.

Run away, run away!

You could draw real world parallels here - the Bismarck was the most powerful warship ever built at the time of her short life, but the Germans understood that a full-on confrontation with the Royal Navy was nothing short of suicidal.

Liberator was at least fresh with just one or two little ideas pinched from a show that has little favour here ( ) whereas Scorpio seemed a hurried idea.

I can imagine the scene in a pub somewhere in Shepherd's Bush in 1980:

"What we're after is a battered old ship, looks like it'll fall apart as soon as look at it. Nothing fancy mind, remember all the melted bits we had with that fancy lampshade-shaped thingy we used for the past three years. Oh, and there's no budget either, so it's eggboxes and loads of tins of silver paint from B&Q for the interiors."

"Errmmmm, right, ok - sounds like you want something like the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars. Buy me and me mate a few more beers and we'll knock you something up this afternoon."

Scorpio rocks!

Where exactly are these egboxes I missed? I realised that the set was covered in aluminium factory roof covering, but eggboxes? sheesh!

Looks like its all gone "pear shaped" with Titan find. Pity, as whilst the Scorpio isnt my favourite design I had already expressed my intention to buy one, in fact I had provided John with some reference photo's that he needed to help get the project off the ground. If his previous B7 kits were anything to go by it would have been a good one
Here's hoping that he gets his property back without too much hassle.

I must be honest here and say I've not watched the 4th series on DVD, though my daughter loves it. Are you saying that aluminium roofing's really any better than eggboxes?

Yes, real pity this - Titan Find was the only company giving us decent kits from this series.

BTW, whatever became of Sevans and their Daleks? And sorry if I'm a bit behind the door here, but what *exactly* is going down with Product Enterprise/Iconic Replicas/Sixteen 12 etc etc?

Gutshot!

I was so looking forward to this kit and had also registered my interest in getting 2. Not least of all because I was going to give it to a friend for Christmas - built if I had time.

Hope all this gets sorted, and that (Darn, no smiley for 'thief') gets all that's coming to him! or better still

Oh, and Slarti.

I don't know what is currently up with Stuart, but a year ago he had a place on an estate in Melksham where I believe he was working on models. Haven't heard if he was making any of his Captain Scarlet or Dr Who stuff though. Pity if he has stopped as a friend of mine has made over 125 of his Daleks over the years.

Licence issues would probably stimy him now - I don't suppose Beeb Enterprises could give away the Dr Who licence in the mid-80's...
