That's actually quite impressive for that model. Nice one!

Just proves mine is missing quite a few parts. Noticed of course far too late!

The antenna, of course, was never included in the kit and my kit also came without the bells for the CM...

That's OK, I realise that. It is some of the very small pieces I seem to be missing. Nothing a bit of scratchbuilding can't fix right enough!

Where I certainly could improve is with my photo skills. Your pics are always great, Keith!

Very nice build. Impressive what can be done with such a small kit and some scratch work.

I'll have to dig mine out again and give this a go. Looks like a little beauty which would probably sit well with my Konami collection of Anderson vehicles.

I also have the other Larson kits including Taybor's ship, the big gun from the same episode, the Dove from Doppelganger and several others. I must get around to building them in a spare few hours as a side project.

Smile Altares progress and images

Hi Guys,

Did we make any progress with this thread, I am curious as I am starting to find and compile information from these studio miniatures. I will move, copy and edit information into the reference section as I come across it but was wondering if anyone has made an attempt at a recreation?

The blueprints were drawn by Stephen Corbett - sigspace - who recently joined this forum. I'm sure he'd be happy to give you more info about them

thanks for the 'plug' Keith.
The drawing I did appeared in the Starlog who actualy commisioned it. It was later re-used in the SF & F magazine. Martin Bower put it forward. I didn't know it had been used at the time but it was nice to find when I caught up with the mag. There was also a drawing of the Voyager which was used in a 1999 convention brochure and the S, F & F again. I also did a drawing of Gwent which too was used in a convention brochure. I still have a folder of reference material somewhere but as I recall it seems to have thinned out over the years which sadle, isn't the case for me!!!

Stephen, did you have access to the real model or did you do the drawings "just" with reference pics?

Hi
yes I had access to the original large model, Martin Bowers photos and construction notes and a set of photos I took for reference. These were all checked by Martin and then Dave Hirsch (Starlog editor) before the drawing was completed and the drawing was scrutinised by Martin before publication..

Stephen Corbett - sigspace, thank you for giving us all an insight into the path to completing your brilliant Lightship Altares Blueprint. It is still the most impressive over three decades later.

There was a little Swift and a little Scout Ship besides the Taybor but I guess we first have to convince Duey to do them again...

Any possibility of sharing the photos ? as I've been trying to find good clear images for ages as I want to attempt a studio scale build at some point but I havent had much luck finding good photographic reference.
